@Module79L4 жыл бұрын
4:30 - If my ears don't trick me, I believe Roman is using an octaver effect in this song. That's the high "timbre" your hearing in the guitar tone. He rarely uses modulation effects, in fact the only other song where he uses it is Perennial. He has a stage amp but it's only for stage presence and/or monitoring because all the sound that's coming out of the P.A (or in this case, the sound that we're hearing) comes directly from his Helix pedalboard. 10:40 - Have you noticed the laptop next to Vlad? That where all the pre-recorded noises, extra guitar tracks and vocal harmonies come from. It also provides a click track for him to follow so that all those pre-recorded tracks fall precisely into their places. That speaks volumes about Vlad's ability to play all the intricate drum works and still manage to be the time maestro for the rest of the band. 13:38 - Yup. That bass is one of a kind and was made exclusively to Eugene by an ukrainian bass luthier. Of course, Eugene wanted to have the band's name on the fretboard. I don't know if you noticed but Roman's OD Guitars' baritone also has Jinjer's logo on the 12th fret. ; ) Another nice reaction and anlaysis, as usual. Greetings from Portugal. : )

No disrespect to Dmitry Kim because he was actually really fucking good and is an amazing drummer, but Vlad has been the absolute perfect puzzle piece for this band as made evident with micro/macro & now wallflower. Vlad is such a lyrical drummer. His phrasing is so unique to him. I think he was the missing piece in Jinjer reaching their potential. All of their previous drummers were very technically proficient, quality musicians. But none of them had the almost virtuoso feel that Vlad does. With time and practice, many musicians can learn to play fast and/or complicated music. But the ones that show an understanding for the subtleties - what not to play, when to use unconventional techniques in a conventional way - are true prodigies. Since adding Vlad to the group, I think that description now applies to everyone in the band.

As a testament to how exceptional Jinjer is, is that prior to hearing "Pisces", there was not a single song with growling (or fry screaming) that I had heard, where I didn't hate the screaming. I still don't like it with most bands, though I tolearate it more. But with Tatjana doing it - I don't know why, but it just sounds so much better than with any other singer I know. I had been exposed to metal before, and some metal I liked a lot (like Nightwish), but Jinjer kinda opened my mind to explore things I hadn't before considered worth exploring.
@Doug_Hannon4 жыл бұрын
Same. I generally don't care for harsh vocals. Jinjer and Maximum the Hormone are really the only bands I enjoy that employ it. Both use a mix of harsh and clean vocals, which I think helps the music flow better. I need to have a melody to really like a song, even in metal.

You are definitely my favorite Jinjer reactor. You are one of the few people that pays attention to everyone not just Tati. She's so talented everyone locks in on her and stops studying the band and it kinda sucks. I think every Jinjer fan knows how great Tatiana is and appreciates people acknowledging that but we also know just how skilled Roman, Eugene and Vlad are and I appreciate when people see that and let people who may be new to Jinjer know that it's not just Tati that's amazing it's the entire band. Subbed.

She does use background harmonizing tracks. It could be a harmonizing effect to but since they play with a click track it is very likely just a prerecorded backing vocal. Some songs actually have a prerecorded second guitar part as well because a lot of their early (2015 and earlier) songs were written for 2 guitars so if they play any of them they kind of need the other guitar part in there.

Hi Chase, I'm not sure if you'll get this comment because you posted this video a couple years ago, but I wanted to let you know that I've watched some of your other Jinjer reaction videos and you always have an intelligent, comprehensive analysis of the songs and great delivery which makes them very watchable and enjoyable. I discovered Jinjer near the end of last year (2021) and even though I was previously not into metal with scream/growl harsh vocals, I became obsessed with them due to their excellent songwriting and musicianship and the incredible vocals of Tatiana, with her ability to transition instantly and seamlessly from her beautiful clean singing voice, with great tone, phrasing and control, into some of the best scream/growl harsh vocals I've heard, female or male. Their cred with me was also boosted by their great stage presence (mostly Tatiana's kick-a$$ performances) and because they are genuinely nice people (plus, it helps that Tatiana is super hot IMO). I've got a ticket to see them live next month at the House of Blues in Boston and I'm psyched! I also recently purchased one of their "We Want Our Home Back" t-shirts and a couple stickers, so I guess I'm a real fan now! 😁

Nice one Chase - good, insightful reaction as ever. It's an over-used term these days, but Tati is an 'artist' in the true sense of the word: she's trying to create something new and interesting with every song, and she'll do, or _not_ do, whatever's neccessary to get the right result, rather than pandering to expectations or worrying about having a consistent image.
