51 year old female, retired competitive runner. First road bike 2021. First Crit 2020. So much to learn. Thank you for encouraging as racing is intimidating but exciting.

heck yeah! learning from each event, each workout, and even each ride is such a fun part of this journey. 150,000 miles on a bike and I'm still learning! Enjoy the start of a great new adventure!

Thanks for sharing. I've been drawn to gravel "riding", not racing. This is my 4th-ish year (1750+ hours of recorded riding). I'm north of 50 and have completed a few organized rides. My biggest events have been Unbound when it was DK in 2019 (less than a year of riding 🤪) and Michigan Coast to Coast (2021). I'm not fast, but consider myself fit. It's been a great journey.

heck yeah Kevin, that is awesome! keep getting after it; you'll be surprised how far you've come when you're at 3000 hours. then 5k, and beyond!

So what you are saying is I have a decade or so left to really crush in. That makes me smile.

you are young; you have 2 decades! at least!

I'm 32, about 292 w FTP, 3.8 w/kg and ride with a guy that is in his mid 60s and he still can drop most of the other people we ride with. He has trained hard and consistently for decades and is enjoying the benefits of that. He even gives me a run for my money on some days. Don't let age stop you from chasing your dreams!

Turning 50 next week - been racing road for 3 years and got to CAT 3 this year, honestly proud of that but know that there's so much more ahead of me. One of these days I'm going to get serious about training. I do enjoy flying past the younger riders! (OK, that's only happened a couple times, but it happened and I will see that it happens again) 😀 Enjoying the posts and look forward to more.

Brendan,, thanks for your vids.. I watch all of them. . Im being trained by Landry as a 56 year old dude.. who raced in his 20's but left for decades.. Age certainly does not make it easy, and to you older guys, don't expect exponential gains.. EXPECT incremental gains, IF YOU KEEP AT IT.
