Listening to the song, this story popped into my head: It had been six years since they broke up. She never got over him. He had long since moved on, found someone, had a family. Everything was going right for him. For her, life took a downward spiral. She lost her job due to a rapid decrease in work performance, and had to move back in with her family. Slowly but surely her mind unhinged. Obsession took over. Sure, they agreed to be friends back then; hell she thought that she could keep him close that way. But after their time had ended, she would get into the habit of begging for him back every week. After many attempts of her trying to force herself on him, he had enough. He cut her off. That's when her silent stalking began. She would obsessively watch his social media from accounts that she knew he would think nothing of. Watched, heart breaking every minute as she watched him find happiness while she only sunk deeper into despair...and deeper into her new hobby. She watched as he found someone, watched as they fell more in love and eventually get married. Watched the future she had wanted with him slip through her fingers. The kid was the snap. She had to get him back. Had to win him. So when he said over social media he was going on a business trip out of state, she got on it. Stealing money from her parents, and finding his locations, she vowed to herself to get him back. She booked the hotel across from his, and would track his locations as she had when they had dated. When she found him at the bar one night, he looked shocked, and horrified. She tried to strike up conversations with him. Being civil, he would answer her questions, hoping all would have changed in six year. Deep down, He knew something was wrong. It was the way she looked it him. The drinks would keep coming, and she would pay for them. He was slowly letting his guard down. His mistake. When she thought she had him nice and intoxicated, she went on one of her spiels about how she missed his touch, and him, and tried to pull him in to kiss him...He pushed her away. Security was called. She was escorted off the premises. Her heart shattered. But she had her answer now. So, rather than waste more time on this man, she planned to fill the void somehow. She returned, and, after owning up to her frivolous vacation, and paying her parents back the money over time with temp jobs, she'd seemingly cleaned up. Eventually, she got a higher paying, more permanent job in the country, and moved out. She would work by day, though by night would stalk the bars. She would find men like her ex, who looked and acted as closely as she remembers him, and lure them in on false pretenses of getting more. Once their guard was down, and she'd gotten what she wanted, she would lure them downstairs, thinking they were going to do something a bit more extreme. This was when she would tie them up in her basement. Eventually, missing persons reports would go out. It took a while, but they would trace it back to her. After searching the house, they were mortified when they searched the basement. The last guy she had was strapped to a chair, a printed picture mask of her ex strapped over his face. This man was lucky...the others had not been so fortunate. On her property, after some digging, they found the rest of the bodies. The similarity between all of them was each one had their heart ripped out.

Just in case you’re bingeing a bunch of Chase’s videos like me and kind of letting them play while scrolling through to see other videos you haven’t seen yet and happened to check the comments...don’t click off this one. I almost made that mistake, but let me tell you...it got frickin EPIC towards the end.

Your reimagining of songs gives me a new appreciation for the original even as I am repeatedly impressed by your skill.

Wow, this cover made me realize how lamenting the lyrics to the song really is. The entire I was listening I was thinking “Geez, this is really bittersweet...it hurts.”, Thanks Chase for this cover! It’s fantastic!

Great song! Really love the sound of minors. The name of your next cd should be, "Minor Changes" 😊👌

This is kind of what depression in combination with anxiety feels like. Constant, intense darkness inside and there is NO WAY OUT.

Wow... amazing what difference it makes. The song sounds so dramatic instead of "just" sad.

Dude... Im not sure this is even normal. You just made me tell my wife the weirdest thing. Lol. I just told her that i have never heard a man sound like an angel. Why have you never gone on the voice or start a band or something? Your music is amazibg, the minor key, dark, cinematic or whatever you call it vibe is amazing and suits the voice very well. Anyways you should give it a go, i am from RSA but i do watch the American Voice and i can tell you now you would win it no doubt.. Keep it up bud. Really solid work.
