If anyone's confused about breath of the wild merging the timelines, think of it as a fixed point in time. No matter what happens in the 3 timelines, after an extremely long time they all end up converging on that exact version of hyrule. EG. Sea salt in the middle of the map? At some point all 3 versions of hyrule must have flooded, we just only saw one. Same goes for any other discrepancy.

Yeah, the placement makes perfect sense. Breath of the Wild is one of the least confusing parts of the timeline. For me, the most confusing part is, the entirety of the Downfall Timeline's existence. Its existence makes no sense, and the placement of the games in that particular timeline also make no sense. That entire timeline is just a giant, inexplicable fever dream. The placement of Four Sword Adventures is also very unfitting and nonsensical, but at least with that, it is only one game that is out of place, not the entirety of the Child Timeline. That placement could also be fixed more easily.

At the very minimum, we can see that none of the 3D games are compatible with the 2D games, although the 2D games are all "compatible enough" with one another to form a coherent chronology. Among the 3D games, there is also a clear discrepancy between the pre-Skyward Sword 3D games, and the 3D games including Skyward Sword and published afterwards. To put it more simply: Ocarina of Time was basically a reboot of the franchise, and Skyward Sword was basically a re-reboot of the franchise.

The reason it feels weird is that the entire chronology is an inconsistent mess that was haphazardly spliced together, without much regard for the content that is actually displayed in the games, and completely ignoring the fact that these games were not designed with the priority of having them fit in a chronology, since this has never been a primary concern for Nintendo. This franchise is ultimately no different from the Super Mario Bros. franchise in this regard. We are not looking at a Triple A game franchise from the Western continents.

We've seen this before in OoT when Zelda sends Link back to the past so he can live his childhood and he prevents Ganondorf from doing anything, while the adult timeline still continues even without Link there. This isn't like the OG Hyrule Warriors, this can very much be canon. We just have to wait to see what Nintendo does with BotW2 and future games. To say it, "shouldn’t be considered as such" is kind of pushing it. It is very much debatable.

Ocarina of Time was made with the split timeline in mind and was always going to be a prequel to A Link to the Past. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are clearly sequels to Ocarina of Time in different timelines. The Fallen Hero timeline was created because there was no way for A Link to the Past or any sequel to take place in any other timeline.

I want to point out something: In Skyward Sword, you travel forward and backward in time. In the future timeline, you kill Demise with the Triforce. In the past, you seal him within the Master Sword. Then take him to the Future Timeline. Thus, Demise's curse no longer exists in the Past TL, only the Future TL. Demise can't exist in the Past TL's future because he was no longer sealed and got sent to another TL. Therefore, none of the events after Skyward Sword can happen within the Past TL, only the Future TL. Just an observation I made while replying Skyward Sword.

The best justification for the "fallen timeline", IMO, is the following: in OoT, Link is forced to go back in time at least two times: for the Lens of Truth and for the Spirit Temple. Every time he does that it creates a new timeline, leaving the timeline he was previously on a place where there is no hero around to beat Ganon.

Fallen Hero timeline takes place in an alternate timeline which is almost identical to the events of Adult Link's timeline except Link gets defeated by Ganon. It was probably created as a result of Link's time traveling to the past creating a separate timeline.

On top of that, there isn't a ruined Hyrule Castle in any of the downfall games because Ganondorf caused the castle to collapse just before turning into Ganon.

But wait, there are Zora, so it must be the child or fallen hero timelines! And then there's lynels, which only appear in the fallen hero timeline. But then there's bokoblins, lizalfos, and chuchus, all of which appear in every timeline *except* for the fallen hero timeline. There's just so much evidence for and against all three branches of the timeline. You think you've found evidence for one timeline, and then you get tons of evidence for a different one, and also lots more disproving the one that you thought it was in. The *only* possible options are: - botw is *so far into the future* that it literally doesn't matter which timeline it is in (unlikely considering the ruins of lon lon ranch are still there, and that the Zora still have accurate accounts of what happened in OOT) - sometime between the end of each timeline and the age of extremely advanced technology, there was a sort of collapse in the fabric of reality that brought the timelines together

Sagui actually it’s in the child timeline. The spirit of the hero doesn’t actually exist in the adult or fallen timeline. Wind Waker Link isn’t actually Link, but someone who took on his name. Fallen timeline is because Ganon tricked link in one timeline to go back in time to get past the spirit Temple so he could win in that timeline. A Link to the Past Link earned his power through artifacts. Wind Waker link also needs artifacts. Child timeline link just needs 13 hearts in BotW to pull the sword. Twilight princess Link has the triforce automatically.

IT CREAT A NEW TIMELINE ! in fact there are four timeline that can appear at the end 1: Betting Ganon with the master sword 2: Betting Ganon without the master sword 3: Losing against Ganon with the master sword 4 : Losing against Ganon without the master sword And i think you have a good theorie about the master sword and what we saw in the trailer. But it may not be possible because the master sword was already in link's hand 100 years ago and the momified Ganon seems to be under the castle since a long long time. But the real body of Ganon is "sealed" under the castle and it explain why the evil spirit of Ganon came out of under the castle. I could talk during hours about Zelda !
