Helicoils. Replaces threads in hole. Used them to replace threads in block of a Honda motor. Worked like a charm.
@ryang35886 жыл бұрын
That was a special Bolt once you use the torque wrench it squishes the threads down so that way it doesn't back out from vibration once you take one of those type of bolts out you have to replace it.

Daytona's are real fun to work on... swapped out a headlight assembly on my buddies 2015 daytona and he thought you had to take the air intake assembly off to get the front off. Turns out you don't need to, and if you do..the bolts will strip and break off in the frame. Was real fun :) they aren't meant to be taken out. He learned the hard way.
@exonusgod6 жыл бұрын
Stahpppp the bolt you pulled out had copper slip on the end, so the 48nm on a copperslipped bolt is a much greater force as the copper slip is there to stop the bolt from seizing into place. When youre putting and bolts in on a bike you should always use either lock tight (for the ones that should never move) and copper slip (for the ones that shouldnt be allowed to seize), ask Brian :P

I really enjoy these videos of you doing all the work. It gives us non mechanics of the world what to expect, and how to work through them. It is nice having an expert to help like in Wrecked Bike Rebuild, but most of us don’t have one at our disposal. Seeing you encounter the same difficulties all of us might have gives us the real world feel. The Triumph turned out oh so sexy!!!

I love the frame sliders. They actually look like they belong in the bike and they flow really well with the lines too. Unlike most frame sliders that are just blocks plastic sticking out in an obscure manner. Pain in the but to install it seemed like but worth it in the end.

Those things were a huge PITA to install on my Daytona. Glad to see I'm not the only one. Look at getting yourself a set of the LED Indicators, Chase. They look way better than the stock signals and are actually made by Triumph.
@monsterniceguy98406 жыл бұрын
New parts look good Chase but if you pulled some of the threads out, you still need to address that. Next time he's over for WBR have Brain work his magic and fix it. Might have to go with a larger bolt and retap it.

Just an FYI, the Triumph crash protection for the engine cases is pretty garbage... yes I've tested them :( The frame sliders are good though, as are the fork sliders. Decent sized bar ends are the other things that help too.

that thing on the bolt is called a "heli coil". its not the end of the world. it just means someone stripped that hole and then bored it with a bigger thread then stuck a helicoil so they can put a smaller bolt in there. and you can not "break the threads out of a bore or a bolt"
@stefankahn81336 жыл бұрын
Except the bike was new when chase got it and yes you can easily tear allow threads out with a steel bolt. More than likely is some kind of thread sealant from factory.

Emil Ivarsson I have ADHD and still don't make the same mistakes that he does. Whenever I do anything to my bike, or my sister's, every bit is organised by area and where the bolts, screws and washers go. It's not difficult to keep organised when fixing things or putting shit on your bike.

Chaaaaaase! Another great install vid. My protection kit for the STRS 765 looks identical and were a simple install, but the frame protectors.... 😥 That was a challenge to do solo in my garage. The hidden nuts on the front engine mount bolts required some black magic (aka a tiny @ss wrench strategically lodged between the radiator and engine) to remove from the original bolts completely. Where did you find that light you're using? (Seen on the floor @12:58) I tried to make due with a cell phone light on the floor... 😑

I did the same thing with the old bolt but don’t think I yanked the threads. And finding the nut inside was a pain. No good wrench angle.

I don't know why bikes don't come with case protectors as standard equipment. The other sliders aren't that useful IMHO and can actually cause _more_ damage if you crash at speed (you're going to be replacing the plastics anyway even with frame sliders). Sure, they're good for a parking lot drop or something but I'm not sure it's worth the risk.
