The R model is supposed to have the lower torque that you were looking for. This one is set up to be more like the sport bikes. It is good for the road but a great bike on the track and still have the comfort of an more upright bike. I like how Triumph broke up this group to fit a lot of different people.

Got the RS 2 months ago. Amazing bike in every area. Very fast and balanced. When it comes to corners nothing can beat it or very few bikes, you know what I mean. The FZ 09 is more of a lunatic. I find it to be more for the experienced rider because its motor is explosive. You twist the throttle and its immediate torque blows your mind. I chose the RS finally because it suited me better as a rider and I fell in love with its look. I wouldn't say anything negative about the yamaha because it is also an amazing bike. After 1800km with the Triumph I can only say it needs an SC Project exhaust to make it scream like hell. But some say it does not need one... Conclusion: just try the Yamaha and the Triumph and choose the one that gives you the big smile 😎. Cheers mates
@ricardoedwardo57996 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, test rode a triple rs and an MT10. Took the MT10 back after 40 mins as it's throttle was dangerously twitchy with that insane power (loved it though but too unpredictable and twitchy in slow traffic) The triple was just so much more refined and comfortable. Instantly fitted and suited me and it just turned in the twisties so well. Took it for 2 hours and didn't want to give it back. My GSXR 1000 felt sluggish and heavy after it😢

I test rode the 2017 r and absolutely fell in love with it. Super comfortable and still has the power/torque of a super-sport. I have a 2014 gsxr600. I love my bike, but this bike... made me consider switching. The whistle and the gurgle of letting go of the throttle. Just gah love it! Thanks for the video

@exothermal.sprocket7 жыл бұрын
"The whistle of a triple" is not a triple. It's camshaft gears. There are a few other bikes on the market that use a hybrid cam chain/gear drive. DL1000 V-Strom comes to mind with a chain to a gear between the cams, and two gears tying the cams together. The whistle is the straight-cut (not helical cut) gears spinning.
With what you were talking about regarding the torque, the Street Triple RS was intended to be a little more of a track oriented tuning so peak torque is at 11k or so, the R was more street focused and its peak is around 9k

Triumph street triple is my dream bike, as for me it is just the perfect all around bike. I love so many bikes, but for me all the rest that I like have compromises and this doesn't. I am planning to get one in a few years even tho I am going to have to get one from a few states away (I have one closer but they charge way higher prices than just a few states away). The front lights used to bother me, but they have grown on me. Other bikes are awesome, but they all leave me with certain compromises, while this bike checks all my boxes

Since Triumph first introduced the Street Triple, they have been moving it further and further away from a more classic road brute style bike, and turning it more and more into a modern looking and responding sport/race bike. The high revs required to get the torque is a further move in that direction, non of which I'm personal a fan of. As for the new color LCD instrumentation, it looks nice, and has great functionality, but my concern is how out of luck and screwed you will be when the entire thing, or even just parts of that screen eventually fail, which will happen sooner or later. Not to say older analog instruments don't fail, they do, but the cost and availability factor is surly to be quite different between them, let alone any third party after market replacements. I'm really looking forward to seeing the RT version of this bike that Triumph has said was coming for a long time now. I imagine they will re-tune the bike, bringing that torque curve down lower, and of course the seating position will be more comfortable for distance riding. Sounds like it will be a fantastic bike, and is the one I'd personally be interested in if and when they ever release it.

A lot of comments on the headlights. I don't care how they look because from my spot as a rider, I wouldn't see them. Performance is the main selling feature for this bike. Is it better than everything in its class? By miles. Is it more expensive than everything in its class? Yes, but the S model is closer, and the things you get with the RS if added to say the FZ09, they'd be pretty close in price. It's a no brainer for me. Not as many plastic bits, better performance, higher quality parts, doesn't have those big fugly turn signals. The RS all day long.
@pekahla3927 жыл бұрын
tommy605 nah most of the other bikes in its class have a better Performance
@tommy6057 жыл бұрын
Not one of them has better performance, (maybe the MV Brutale 800, but haven't seriously looked at that because it's too unreliable, both the bike and the company). The FZ09 has more torque, that's it. Suspension still sucks on it making it less stable in turns and exiting turns. The brakes are horrible compared too the Striple so it has to brake earlier and then there's brake fade being on them too hard. The Suzuki 750 GSXS and Kawi Z900 are too heavy and suffer from the same suspension and brake problem. Yes, you can get aftermarket for each of the others to improve those things, but then your cost is at least equal to the RS, and even then, you're still riding heavier and ultimately slower less maneuverable bike. Which do you think outperforms the street triple?
@mattyoz07 жыл бұрын
The z900 engine shit's over this.
@anthonyantoine92327 жыл бұрын
Yeah, anybody that has ridden the bikes in this class knows that even the last gen striple shits all over the others in its class for any sort of performance riding. The others may have been faster in a straight line, but the striple is more well rounded, has the brakes to back up the power, and is just, in general, very well refined. If you think you want a bike to wrench on, go for one of the others maybe, but still realize that no matter the suspension or brake upgrades you do, the chassis will not ever match that of the striple and will never handle as good as one.
@mattyoz07 жыл бұрын
Yeah true, but the triumph cost way more in Australia so it should. Performance for the dollar, the MT-09 can't be beat.

If you buy the street triple R it has the low end torque your after, the RS model your on is designed for the track so the power band is a lot higher up for those top speeds. That new RS is the same engine Triumph have built for the new Moto 2 bikes they have been given the contract for. All amazing bikes but there are different options to suit everyone's needs 😁

I rode a Honda then, in Harley country. That country was Mountains. My commute was through mountains, 50 miles in the valleys. It would take anything on 2 wheels then. Except perhaps a Susie?
