This thing is just as scary for PvE. The one-handed charged R2 is faster than some _R1's_ and deals something like 30 stance damage. It was the same deal with the Katar, but the Pata's range & damage just elevates it to this ridiculous high. You're getting constant stance breaks, you're dealing pierce damage, it's phenomenal.

Another very funny build you can use with the Pata is running them with Lifesteal fist. You can run them similarly to your old lifesteal fist Raptor Talons build focusing on int with Scholar's Armament, or you can run them with Arcane focus and have a soft swap endure weapon. Lifesteal Fist works surprisingly great with Pata as A: nobody expects Lifesteal Fist to be on Pata until they see it, since they almost always get used with other ashes, and B: Pata's amazing range solves one of Lifesteal Fist's biggest weaknesses (that being to just walk backwards). The ash can be used to trade with endure, or by utilizing their range and great moveset to force a heal and use the ash as an incredible estus punish.

Blendering: very high number of hits in rapid sequence, usually because of team fights but I think the Hand of Malenia's waterfowl attack also counts as "blendering" Poise: character stat, from the armor you're wearing, that determines resistance to being staggered/stunned from a hit. Hits do poise damage which, if it exceeds the poise stat, cause the opponent to get stunned. Getting stunned is when you take a hit and get your animations canceled or your movement stopped. I.e. if you are about to swing your sword and you take a hit which stuns you, your sword swing animation is canceled and you likely move from the hit. With high enough poise you can take bigger hits without getting stunned, so your animations continue normally. Hyper armor: when a special move gives you higher poise. For instance, there are weapon skills and spells that give you more poise so you can take bigger hits while casting than what you would usually be able to withstand by your armor set alone. Burst damage: an amount of damage all at once, as opposed to continuous damage over time you would see from i.e. poison True combo: landing a hit guarantees that no matter what the opponent does they will take at least one more hit, as opposed to "not true" combos where the latter hits are not guaranteed to land if the opponent rolls at the correct time or spaces it.

Been using the Patas a lot recently, can confirm: you can get a lot of super clean eliminations like at 16:00 where you feel like you can take direct up-front fights no problem. The pierce damage also makes them more effective against dragons, so on top of that it makes a good anti-Bayle weapon. Between the reach, pierce, and true combo potential, you don't miss the lack of bleed that claws or fists can usually have.
