It's insane how NG+ adds about 10,000 health to every boss, then NG+2 adds about 1,000.

Realistically its because you WILL generate about that much extra damage to compensate on NG+, but NG+2 just doesnt have as much of a growth opportunity, so they cant make it as hard

Like the other guy said, it makes sense since you SHOULD have an endgame build by the time you get to NG+. Those damage increases are mostly for very early bosses, with the DLC guys "only" adding ~8k HP instead of tripling the health pool.

fun fact about Lady Maria (and most other human npc fights) is that they're programmed to automatically attack you after taking so many r1s. (i think the number is 3, but it might be 2 or 4. just test it out.) this means you can abuse that. Hit them a couple times then spam your gun for an easy parry setup. I did this my first ever time fighting Maria. Didn't successfully first try, but after 4 attempts she was dead with not much sweating on my end. Not useful in these single weapon type only runs, but definitely applicable in a lot of other situations.

50:22 The big thing the rifle spear has going for it is its transformed attacks, the charged r2 especially since it launches you pretty far forward and almost always staggers/knocks down enemies. The fact it can shoot in this form is also nice.

your first run could have been even more of a wash. little known aspect of the repeating pistol is that when you apply bone marrow ash it applies to both shots, meaning you effectively have 20 buffs when using it with the repeater, and each individual shot will do substantially more than a buffed evelyn, and can even outdamage a bone marrow ash buffed cannon

I feel its unfair to the Rifle Spear to judge it as bad when you give it only ok gems and take it against a late game boss in ng+2, after barely having ever used it at any other time. It does suffer from not being allowed to take elemental buffs, but it does have other advantages, like very long reach, having a gun while two handing, and lots of thrust damage. Micolash is just not a boss where the long reach is nearly as helpful, due to his own long range attacks. I think bosses like the Shadows, the Failures, Maria, perhaps even Logarius or Gascoigne would have been a better showing for it. Its also handy against any regular enemies you dont want to get close to. I think its very under rated.

for the stake driver, i find its easier to use the charged R2 in the same way as the holy blades charged R2 (I.E. charge while out of range and then let the enemy walk into your attack). its range is deceptively large, and tends to flatten, occasionally allowing a charged R2 lock on some enemies

When it comes to soulslikes and their NG+ I actually love what Code Vein did: it allows you to play through NG+ without increasing difficulty. This would be so nice in other soulslikes to casually try out weapons you only get really late normally, without having to go through everything in harder. These Bloodborne increases look so insane in comparison. (And then there's Nioh 1/2 but they just work completely different with their difficulties and weapons.)

Hey hey, JK! I got Bloodborne for Christmas and I love it. I decided to do something similar to Accain, one character all weapons one weapon per ng cycle (but I'm skipping Kos Parasite) and started with Threaded Cane. I just beat Rom and wanted you to pick what weapon I use in NG+ cuz, you're entertaining and it's more interesting than a wheel or going by that tierlist. Hope ya reply :)

Quick note, the Madaras Whistle DOES do pure Bloodtinge damage, making it viable for high arcane resistant bosses.

⁠​⁠I took a look around and between the two first BB wikis that came up for me the first one (fextralife) said it was arcane and the second one (fandom) said it was bloodtinge; I could be wrong. I also did check out Distortion2’s Madaras Whistle only run and it seemed to be doing good damage against Micolash, which is good to know as his arcane resistance is very high. The easiest way to check the damage type would be to have the snake actually attack yourself while wearing different armors with different resistances. The one good thing to come from it being able to hit yourself I guess.
