Thanks for watching! There's a lot of discussion in the comments about T-Rex 3 vs Garmin Fenix 8. I just want to be clear that there ARE still advantages to the Fenix 8 including more useful health and training status (Body Battery, Training Status, Training Load, etc... are much more accurate and useful) along with the hardware being more premium (Titanium front/back, sapphire options, etc...) and of course the built in flashlight and routeable maps! This video wasn't necessarily a Fenix 8 vs T-Rex 3 comparison as they're vastly different devices at different price points!

Hi, actually the free diving mode offered by the T-rex 3 is not to be compared with the Fenix 8 or Apple watch Ultra since these truly offer a scuba diving more (in addition to free diving), with a gas saturation / decompression algorithm supporting Air and Nitrox up to 40%. I have checked the Amazfit site for specs. Your reviews are great, thanks

One specification that stands out from the list that I found on the site that was not mentioned in the video and I have not seen in any other sport watch is the maximum operating temperature of 70 degrees C. It seems that this is the first sports watch that can be used in a dry sauna.

Many of the features in the smartphone app are derivative and some cases blatantly a copy of Garmin Connect and Coros. This bothers me a bit because I question their understanding of the metrics being represented if they are not making their own graphical representations. What I do like is the watch UI is much better than the Fenix 8 and Enduro 3. Smoother transitions, more organized structured, better notification controls and plenty of options to customize the workout alerts and data fields. Criticisms aside, this watch is more than enough for 85% of the users, I returned mine because I prefer my Coros Pace 3 and now AWU2 combination. But its great to have stuff like Amazfit that offer deecent products at good prices. When you have monopolly you can get cocky with the prices and Garmin is already pretty expensive. Alot of people cant afford high end garmins. So this cheaper variants are good. Garmin got released earlier because it was leaked on the internet not because they are scared of amazfit. 99 percent of people who buy those watches dont even know what amazfit is. Garmin is way more known globally for obvious reasons. You are just overreacting.-

I always had Garmin , (F3, F3hr, vivoactive3, F5, F6pro, F7x) but find them now way to experience and not needed. I bought this Trex3 and I'm really amazed by it. There are some tweaks but for this money ... I also like the UI ... but I find it bigger and more bucky on my wrist than the F7x. I really would liked it a smite less big and bulky !!!

To be fair, Garmin and Apple are USA based companies so their R&D expenses are likely much more expensive. They also still have advantages but for $300 this is a pretty solid option!
@Thx4everything_1172 ай бұрын
@@ChaseTheSummit I tend to disagree. Same as I would if you said the same for Samsung or LG, or any other major corporation that sells expensive items to consumers and every year ups their price due to their "names". R&D teams can use the same process as Amazfit, Hisense, TCL, or Google(Pixel) but they don't because they know people will buy them for their name. It's just smart historical marketing more so than R&D expenses.

I am a watch addict since i have used about 25 different models since 2015 including many Garmin watches with the more recent being the epix gen 2 as well as amazfit trex pro and 2. Garmin is the company most packed with features by far compared to every other sportwatch company in the world. This does not mean though that everyone needs all of the staff garmin offers. Amazfit has been great for me in terms of accuracy with the T rex 2 even in difficult conditions like weight training. I have now ordered the t rex 3 after selling suunto vertical and Garmin gen2 and i can wait to test it out. I am sure that i will really like their new watch since i ticks many off my needs. And in half or one third of its rivals price .

Something i never hear in reviews... How this compares with Suunto or Garmin or Coros if it have problems? Does the brands supports problems? Does 1200 dollars have better warranty support than 300 dollars? What is the best brand in case of malfunction support?
@ChaseTheSummit3 ай бұрын
Support has gotten better over the years now that Amazfit is available in brick and mortar stores in the USA (Best Buy / Walmart). They've also been releasing firmware updates to older models. Garmin probably has better support though as they are a USA based company and have a long track record.

So I had the Epix Pro Gen 2, loved it! Sold it because I went with the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Having using the GWU for about 3 days, I was missing my Epix, mainly because I was spoiled by the awesome battery life in comparison. Low and behold, I saw your video comparing the Enduro 3 and the new Fenix 8. I decided to get the Enduro 3. After 1 week, I'll be returning it because I'm not a fan of MIP. Then you release this video. I had the original T-Rex and I really liked it. However, the software was laggy and not polished. This new one seems promising so I ordered it and I am now waiting for it to arrive. The Enduro 3 will go back to Garmin. I really wish Garmin would include LTE for their higher models, even with sacrificing some battery life. The Fenix 8 with LTE would decimate all watches. Hopefully, Garmin and even Amazfit begin incorporating this in future iterations. Perhaps the Fenix 8 Pro should that be released in the near future. Thanks for the great videos and reviews. You got a new sub from me! Cheers 🍻!

I´ve been waiting for this watch. Sadly I bought the Garmin 965 because I needed something with better navigation than my t-rex 2. Thinking about selling the Garmin... Why are there so few reviews of the T-Rex 3, yet? No Desfit or DC Rainmaker.
@Dnserror883 ай бұрын
As far as I know DC Rainmaker has never really reviewed Amazfit products, only a short review of the Cheetah Pro on his website. Guess he doesn't really like Amazfit. But the T-Rex 3 is hard to ignore, especially as this price! So they might upload reviews at a later time, who knows.

He got a unit weeks ago, before the watch was even announced. I’d wait for more reviews to come out because I don’t trust the biased ones. Amazfit surely gave him special privileges, so of course he has to say good things about it.
@splatmatt3 ай бұрын
DC Rainmaker(Ray) is heavily biased towards Garmin. Nonetheless, he does offer a lot of insight. In saying that, Amazfit’s products have matured quickly with each iteration being significantly better than the last and their smartphone app being more refined routinely. So, I’m not sure if Ray really takes the brand, Amazfit, seriously considering their initial offerings were gimmicky. What is clear is that Garmin needs to deliver a better UI; the recent revamp is nothing more than a skin of what already exists. Coros is not immune either, as Amazfit in the last 18 months has begun delivering impressively durable products, an aesthetically pleasing UI & product design that performs well, and now is potentially recording accurate data on(or nearly on) par with the likes of Garmin at fraction of the cost. I’m never going to be more than enthusiast in my training… so, Amazfit & Coros may be the smarter option given the features and price point for many of us. IDK, my T-rex 3 is scheduled for delivery tomorrow; then I will test it against my Pace 3 & my Wife’s Epix 2 Pro.
@jimbeam47363 ай бұрын
@@splatmatt I´m very interested to hear your thoughts vs the Coros and Epix 2 Pro. Coros has such a clean and easy to use UI that I´ve preferred it over the Garmin UI. Garmin really should work on their UI and App.

Amazfit is out for blood. The only thing is some of the notification verbiage are translated poorly. Regardless, each iteration of the Amazfit devices is significantly better. Amazfit has a much nicer: UI aesthetic and flow than most of the sport GPS watch out there. This really shows: while Garmin may still be a class leader…. they are overpriced and UI needs to be reworked for better flow (even after trying the Enduro 3 recently). I have left the Garmin ecosystem and currently enjoying the more basic Coros Pace 3, but this Amazfit T-Rex 3 makes me just want to buy just to play around with. Honestly, the T-Rex 3 has a great look with homage to the G-shock Casioak series or the luxury brand Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.

@@thecooldude4564 That is debatable. Many have experienced numerous bugs and issues that plague a new release for up to a year with Garmin. FR 955, Fenix 6 series to present, etc. It well discussed on reddit and on garmin's forum with upset users spending $1k on a watch with software that qualifies more as beta. Typically after 6-8months Garmin's new releases become stable. Apple tends to deliver a better software experience initially, but lacks the depth of training related features.
