To be perfectly honest, an F40PH being converted into an NPCU is like 100% better than it being scraped.

An emd sdp40f which was in a Amtrak accident was scraped and they used parts of it to build Amtrak f40ph 281. That sdp40f hit a truck then derailed when it was going fast. The sdp40f fell onto its side and the right side of it was badly damaged and buried in the ground. Then they scrapped it and used parts of it to build 281

The emd sdp40f in the accident was numbered 555. And like I said some of its parts were used for 281

Nice catches! I’m glad that an F40PH was saved because I thought they’d all been scraped for awhile. Nice K5LA as well, but not as good as the P42DC’s with narrow font K5LA’s in my opinion.

They keep saying they will bouncing back and forth between restoring it cosmerically or making it a hydrogen cell test unit neither plan ever gets far but they keep going back and forth between the 2 at this point i kind of just expect it to rot at the NCTM
