Hi Mark. Your summation of what makes autumn such a special season is superb. With the proliferation of youtube angling videos, many of which are very underwhelming, your channel stands head and shoulders above the majority of them. Keep up the good work!

Thank you ever so much Steve, I'm glad you see it for what it is, I do wear my heart on my sleeve and can I guess not be everyone's cup of tea due to being a fairly emotional guy and at times due to not having a filter speak how I feel but it's because I really love the outdoors and care about our rivers and hobby so much that I feel so passionate about them and it's nice to see that resonates with you through the videos. Thanks so much for watching.

Lovely video mark,that stretch of looked beautiful very Mr crabtreeish,and the bird song in the back ground just added to the atmosphere, that bream looked a decent size,followed by a lovely barbel. Do you always use doilies for your barbel fishing,do ever use traditional baits such as lunchen meat . I agree with you about the natural smell at certain times of the year,its a mix of the smell of the water,earth, vegetation mixed together. Keep the videos coming mate much appreciated. Best wishes.
@markerd5378
@markerd5378 23 күн бұрын
Thabks Richard, no but when barbel fishing if fishing more static and not moving, I won't ever use meat this is mainly due to crayfish populaces on a few of my rivers, whereby if you're rolling meat and moving you can get away with it, but if you opt to fish static then you're safer being on a harder bait, be that Air dried boilie in this case. I still use bread, cheese paste and other paste baits, and obviously worms and maggots. But even dead baiting for pike you can bring in 3 or 4 crayfish at a time clutching at your bait and stripping it bare.

Big or small,not the intended quarry or a blank.....by far my fave KZbin fishing videos....excellent as always mark 👍👍👍 I do have a question for you....have you ever used back leads in your small river barbel fishing and if so,how did you get on with them ???
@francolinobasco
@francolinobasco 14 күн бұрын
Thanks Nick and regarding back leads i use them in most of (if not the majority) of my barbel videos where I mention and show them quite often on here mate, including this very video where you may hear in the first part of the video when i had the bream, as i cast there is the noise of a double splash,first splash is the lead hitting the water and the second plop is the flying back lead. I always use back leadswhen rivers are running low or lower or swims that require stealth, however i do not use them in flood as I do not see the need as much, of course depending on swims or in swims where it could make for suicidal fishing.
@Nick-01536
@Nick-01536 14 күн бұрын
@francolinobasco I've never used a backlead in my life,never felt the need to but the more I sit and think about it,the more I feel I should e using one in certain situations,especially situations you've mentioned. Why use the flying backlead as opposed to the more conventional one you clip on after casting ? 🤔 Perhaps the use of backleads might make a good topic for a video ?
@francolinobasco
@francolinobasco 14 күн бұрын
@@Nick-01536 I generally use the inline flying back leads not because of their name sake as i am never casting over head or in such a way that they would fly back on their own mechanics on small rivers as it is generally an under arm cast, but i use a rig stop and the back lead sits above this , the rig stop allows me to adjust how much line i want pinned down by the inline flying back lead as it creates a seperation. I personally find it preferable to using a clip on back lead on the smaller rivers. Yes I may well and probably should do a video on said topic as you rightly suggest it would perhaps be very helpful.

Hi Mark, Well done again. We would love to see how do you making your baits. Why did you stopped chasing barbel on the Thames?
@markerd5378
@markerd5378 20 күн бұрын
Thank you and that's a good suggestion regarding the bait making. I never really stopped with the Thames and although some people feel I'm originally a Thames angler I've always been more a small river angler in many ways. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy my time fishing the Thames because I did, however it's a lot harder for a person like me (autistic) to get the peace and clarity my head needs at times on a river like the Thames where it can be busier and less solitude.

Hi Mark, Thank you for taking the time to make another great watch. Just what I needed to rebuild my broken spirit for this wonderful thing we call fishing. Just packed the van after a week of trying everything I know to catch on the Hampshire Avon and blanked. The River has been totally unforgiving, I think it was the snow melt in stream and the very high water levels that put pay to my best laid plans. Never mind I will appreciate the next fish regardless of what it is😂. Tight lines and look after yourself.

Great atmospheric video as always. Now, I have a question for you. Would you want to film some carp fishing videos this year? Haven't seen loads of it on this channel. Maybe there's a reason behind that? Anyways, great video & tight lines!
@markerd5378
@markerd5378 22 күн бұрын
Cheers Daniel. I do enjoy fishing for carp but do have specific boxes that need ticking for me to enjoy doing so. I'm not a big fan of soul less stillwaters with wood chip lined paths and manicured swims. I need a certain type of vibe to get me going. I'm more the kind of angler whom likes places with atmosphere about them. Which is why also a lot of my carp videos are river based or when certain stillwaters tick my boxes then on those too. That's my main reason really. I mean if I am being fully honest with you, then I have to say that you wouldn't ever find me fishing Brasenose or similar lakes.
@danielb2059
@danielb2059 21 күн бұрын
@@markerd5378 Ahhh ok. I definitely understand your message, and I could nearly predict that answer. Seems like you're not really into the typical carp fishing practiced in many parts of the UK. I'm based in Sweden and here the carp fishing is concentrated to either low stock public venues or low stock wild, nearly inaccassible venues. We have practically no commercial / pay lakes (at least not in terms of carp fishing). Well, I'll hope for a river carp then! Best Regards, Daniel
