I prefer her deeper chime whistle over the Selkirk whistle she's got next to her smoke stack. I'm so excited to see this stunning piece of Canadian history come down south.

Feels nice knowing that 4449’s aux is seeing use behind 2816’s run to Mexico. Prior to coming to Canada it hadn’t seen use since 4449’s sun to bend, Oregon in June 2017. Still, glad to know the new ptc system on 2816 works!

My son is special needs and he loves trains 🚆🛤🚋🚞🚝🚊🚉🚈🚇🚅🚄🚃 especially steam locomotives like 2816 and is overjoyed to see it operating again and hopes it will more often like it did in the early 2000s when it climbed the Canadian Rockies.

The reason why it was sidelined in 2012 was because of former CEO E. Hunter Harrison who had just taken over from Fred Green. Harrison hated steam on his railroads and yes, it never ran while Hunter was in charge of CP. There was a steam ban at BN for most of the 1980's while Harrison was there. Then Harrison left CP for CSX and he passed away a short time later. Keith Creel became CEO of CP after Harrison left and he brought back the beaver logo among other things and the most exciting announcement was that 2816 would be restored to operate again and that CP would merge with KCS and to celebrate the merger 2816 would run from Calgary to Mexico City. The tour was delayed several months to April 2024 and is in progress now. A bonus is that a public excursion was announced for June 29 over Iowa Interstate from Silvis, Il to Bureau Junction, Il. Over 125 miles round trip. There will be ex-PRR P-70 coaches on the train with windows that can open. Keith Creel must like steam unlike his predecessor. I hope though that he runs it again in the future and offers more public excursions.

Incredible footage! What’s the voice I’m hearing at the beginning? Is that a scanner frequency I don’t know about? (I’m only a few KM from the first shot!)
@centamangila1217 Жыл бұрын
Its the hotbox detector.
@DavidCloutierS Жыл бұрын
@@centamangila1217 Yeah- but you can hear it on a scanner? I have only found the engineering frequencies.
@CanadianTrainsCPKC Жыл бұрын
It is a scanner. The mainline frequency to hear that detector is 161.475

The whistle sounds so, game like. It goes off quite quickly. Why not like, build up the whistle from low to high tbh. I still like the locomotive though, sounds like your average model steam whistle
