Warren, the first few times I watched you analyze and solve similar problems I was astounded and impressed. Now I am not astounded because I expect that you will with extremely high probability solve the problem. However, I am still very impressed every time because your talents and work ethics demand that respect. It is such a privilege to have you share your thought processes and actual work throughs with us. Thanks so much for that gift.

Trouble shooting an electrical problem is like trying to find the end point of a circle, you know it’s there, but to find it is a quest that requires patience. Nice job sir. Thanks for the ride along sir.

Man, trying to find those passive terminators on the older models are a nightmare. Always somewhere different. Fuse panel behind the speaker right side of cab left side of cab by the shifter by the instrument cluster up the right pillar behind the rock shaft on top of the engine. It's like Easter egg hunting.

Damn I love that comment, you got a have an oscilloscope to find that tinfoil, about 40 years ago I, worked in a GMC dealership my father was the shop foreman and he had a man work for him that was absolutely brilliant at electrical issues, I swear the man could smell corrosion inside of a wire and all the ever used was a multimeter and it wasn’t digital and a test light maybe some jumper leads

Ended up having to change main cab harness, never did find the short in old harness. But new harness fixed it. I was skeptical cause I like to find the problem to verify repair

Know what you mean with intermittent electrical faults, nothing worse than one that's disappears half way through the diagnosis. Same with proprietary software as well, I work on every brand, model and vintage of forklift out there and you frequently haven't got the software at all and sometimes you do just have to 'roll the dice' and go with gut and intuition. Thankfully most the time your intuition is correct. Communication and good relationship with the customer is the most important thing in those situations 👍.

Those intermittent electrical issue's really suck, and you end up wasting a lot of time trying to get the problem to repeat itself. Always a lift when you put out a video Warren, one of the best channel's on utube. A guy should have access to the software to fix any piece of equipment they own, and tech's should be able to purchase the shit to. When the dealer doesn't have a tech who can even diagnose, or repair stuff right, it just hurts the consumer. G-d bless you and the family.

Warren, even though those tires look low, it's actually requested that they're ran with at least 3 of the bars on the ground. Gives better traction and actually does less wear on the tires. I've said it before, I'll trust your honest mistakes over a lot of these so called mechanics of today Warren. It's a royal pain when someone else tears into to stuff and then they can't figure it out and pass it on to you. But, your knowledge always prevails Warren. Cheers :)

I was going to recommend a tin-foil-o-scope but a better choice might be an idiot-o-scope to id the previous high skilled workers that applied the tin foil in the first place. My Dad used to say (he was an A&P mechanic) "if you want to know where a wire goes in an aircraft, grab one end of the wire with your left hand, place your right hand ahead of your left, then repeat." This appears to work for tractors as well. Dad found aircraft diagrams notoriously inaccurate, especially after years of maintenance and upgrades. Love your videos.

This procedure is the only one that works, electrics, pipework etc, that and good lighting and constant diagrams whenever you come to a bulkhead ! you have absolutely no idea how often a flow turns into a return because of low attention to detail !

Wish you were closer got kubota 126x that has electrical glitch blows 5amp fuse to power shift after it gets up to temperature when you run rear scv like opening baler tailgate. Has something to do with hydraulic flow because if you pull scv handle slowly it doesn't blow? Pretty sure solenoid on top transmission but there are 17 switches and solenoids there.

Nothing like parts all tore out of the machine, hate that crap. When you take the stuff apart, it's a heck of a lot easier to figure out what's going on, and easier to put back together. Them guy's are rough on shit out there, i have never seen equipment look so beat up. People don't care when they ain't paying for it. I feel bad for the owner's, because their stuff just won't last as long without proper maintenance and care. Do the owner's ever chew these guy's out for not checking the machine's before jumping in to use them. A quick visual inspection, checking fluids, and greasing everything would go a long way, along with regular fluid and filter changes.

I have been working on allison transmissions for probably 20 years now and I have seen every problem imaginable. There is essentially 5 generations of control systems used by allison transmissions and the diagnostics vary based on the generation. Range inhibited happens any time the computer detects any type of serious fault. When range inhibited happens it essentially is placing the transmissions in a neutral state to protect the transmissions from further damage. The problem may have no relation to the range switch. They switched to the internal switch due to all the problems with the external switches. I have seen them with range inhibited due to a single solenoid wire grounded out between the computer and the transmissions or even problems with the internal wiring. I was working on a allison 2400rds in a ford 750 and it was range inhibited with no other faults and it turned out it had a speed senor problem. A bushing inside the transmissions was completely worn out which allowed the reluctor to come in contact with the speed sensor which wore the end off of the speed sensor. A throttle position sensor can also cause a range inhibited issue, I was working on a 80 ton crane that had a big cam 400 cummins with a electronic allison ht741 which uses a remote throttle position sensor with a cable connected to the throttle on the injection pump. Allison has a built-in neutral drop protection system that range inhibits the transmission because it believes the throttle is open past idle. Make sure you check out the throttle position sensor data, watch live data without the engine running and push the throttle slowly to make sure it has a smooth throttle position sweep throughout the range. Throttle position issues and speed sensor issues are probably the number one cause of having the range inhibited and there is a good chance that there will be no codes present because it is not seeing anything else wrong except that conditions are not being met to go into gear.

You don’t have to have the scope to find high resistance in the circuit, 😁 - just a light bulb or a “load master”! Heck - scope probably will not even show you the “echoing” of the BUS when terminators are bad. It only can show you if your CAN signal is all screwed up and out of whack. Like you have bad module somewhere.

I feel sorry for mechanics of todays versions of tractors. I'm seeing so much electronics crammed into tractors and nests of hydraulic lines squeezed into handlers that repair is going to be long, full of effort and frustration and costly. I've not even mentioned how manufacturers are pushing modern engines to high performance levels. Sure materials science has advanced but longevity will be a factor in those. I'm kinda glad I'm older and won't have to put up with repairing future cr*p.

I had A customer who had multiple gadgets into their cigar outlet. The customer stated. It's blowing fuses. I told the customer. You have A huge current load. You need to remove all of them. Use only 1. She bitched saying she needed all of them for her NEEDS. I told her. Well good luck. You will either melt your wiring harness if you keep installing a bigger fuse. I cannot help you.
