Hard to beat a manual Cummins with exhaust brake. I had a 2002 2500 HO 6 speed. I installed the Jacobs exhaust brake I bought off of a guy who had totalled his truck for $350 right after I had bought my truck new in 2002. Back then you could get the gear shift exhaust brake switch similar to the BD switch you installed from a Cummins Dealer in West Sacramento. Really nice thing about the manual trucks with exhaust brake is that they work in first gear at very low speeds, unlike the auto trucks which do not work in first gear.

Yep you can’t beat a truck with a manual and an exhaust brake. I’ve got a 17 4500 with a G56 and I’ve run the EB down to 6-7 mph while downshifting

The "Sport" headlights are a great upgrade for any 2nd gen truck... the dual bulbs eliminates the (common) issue of them burning up the switch, or the need to add a relay.. plus they are MUCH brighter than the stock single bulbs :)

Those exhaust breaks are just awesome 👌 What a nice looking truck.

Man, if I had a reason to own a diesel anymore, I'd come buy (or beg to buy) a truck from you. I no longer have livestock or trailers that warrant owning one after 25 years of nothing but diesel trucks. But if I do, you'll be the first I call. For now, I'll rock my Landcruiser LOL. Great channel!

I put a PakBrake exhaust brake on my 2000 ten years ago and it has worked flawlessly since. It has made a huge difference in towing or I should say stopping when towing our travel trailer. My biggest problem was fitting the exhaust down pipe from the brake to the intermediate pipe.

Nothing beats the low end torque of that Cummins! Now with a Toyota-Aisin tranny behind it which is it's perfect compliment!

I recently got a stock appearing turbo from Infinite with 62mm custom billet compressor wheel, and I am really liking it. It moves quite a bit more air and would make a fantastic towing turbo. And it really wasn’t that expensive. I think you would love it. It would be something to think about for whatever one of your 2nd gen trucks you drive the most or plan to keep the longest, such as your first truck you recently got back.

I totally agree if you don't have an exhaust brake (Ford Chevy) you do not have a tow rig. That variable vane type is mostly useless.

Sweet!! It was cool before, the new(er) lights on all 4 corners made it even better! That truck has so many cool things from the start I didn't realize it had, trim things. I have a list I'm building for shopping. 8) Thanks Sam!! Peace --gary

I remember when Andrew put the exhaust/ Jake brake combo on one of his trucks. It was awesome to see. But I can afford the almost 6k to do that on my 5.9.. exhaust brake will have to do.

You might try some "Mouse Milk" on any and all high heat areas when working on them. Makes things a bit easier for operation and disassembly. You took the ring out of the turbo, does it "sing" more?
