Chasing Longbeards With A Bow!

Kellan and I hit the woods for his turkey season. He is trying to take one with his bow so that makes things a little harder. While we didn't bag a bird, we had a great time and saw some cool sights. Check them out! Thanks for watching!

Looks like the Tom’s aren’t interested in the challenge from the jake decoy or the gobble call. Maybe just use hen decoys? I know that down here(Florida), after the second week or so of our season, we see similar reactions. Toms will approach, but not commit if there’s a jake decoy. I’m not sure what stage of the breeding cycle your turkeys are currently in, but once the initial really hot breeding is over, they seem to respond negatively to the challenge. Not trying to tell you how to hunt, just my thoughts on what I observed. Great footage, by the way!

I appreciate the feedback. It's nice to hear other opinions and options for how to hunt these crazy birds. We did pull the jake decoy at one point because I was thinking the same thing. Even after that, that one tom still didn't finish. The only thing I could think of in that situation was that we should have just put a lone hen out instead of three. @@teamjohnsonoutdoors4647 I’ve watched your entire catalog(?)of videos since I stumbled on your channel a couple weeks ago. I really enjoy seeing other families doing the same things mine does, just in different parts of the country. Our season is over down here, and me and my son just punched our last Georgia tags, so we’re done. Tagged out in two states. Now we’re left watching everyone else finish their seasons.
