Chasing More Speed from the 601....Wheel Pants

2025 brings new opportunities for flying. I am almost ready to take my instrument practical exam, but I had an opportunity to test performance upgrades for the 601 is also on the top of my list. After the faring from North American Aerospace for the 601/650 Zenith I had to try adding the Zenith Wheel pants.

I always wonder weight vs. speed with wheel pants? With Mosaic maybe it will be less of an issue, but staying under 1320 lb, maybe worth 1-2kts to gain 5 lbs? Also, I have the old style 601 wheel pants, not as nice looking as the newer ones.

You could add an AirMaster inflight adjustable prop and still keep the same Sensenich blades.

My back ground is molding. It really wouldn't take much to make molds for a wing root (need 2, right and left). But you would need the airplane to make the mold. I don't own a 601.. Make some goods Molds, then you could sell nude wing root kits to others. As for the pants, your right , not very aerodynamic. A little fiberglass work, would look better and more streamlined.
