What kind of bottom do you fish for burbot? And what depth do you like to fish for them I see your in 55ft

Do you guys have any recommendations on a good cot for sleeping on the ice? I am hoping to try for some burbot come the end of the month, and you have inspired me to try spending a night on the ice!
@weskyle52762 жыл бұрын
I am 6 foot 4 so I have to use a larger cot, I have the aluminum alps cot, the green cot is a woods cot it’s easier to set up and steel frame. It weights slightly more and it’s a shorter and lower bed but it works. If you plan on sleeping on the ice ensure you have ample ventilation and proper CO monitor

Living in Maine the state record is 18lbs. I fish deep I fish shallow I fish live bait I fish dead bait I run burb bombs I run the kitchen sink…only thing I haven’t done is drop a nuke…ugh
@hngloose22 жыл бұрын
Please help. Your fishing in 55 ft. Tapping bottom. Isn’t every fish you bring up dead?
@fishingalberta85342 жыл бұрын
the trout can vent their swim bladders by burping and burbot don't seem to care about the depth either
@fishinggeeks2 жыл бұрын
Not every fish. We keep the ones that won’t go back. Also we can watch them on the live scope after we release them and they make it back to the bottom. Best advice I can give you is get the fish back quickly for its best chance to survive

I enjoy your videos, but I think it is important to mention that just because the fish releases fine and swims down doesn't mean it is fine and doesn't die later. There have been studies done with tagged fish that show fish caught from over 30 feet deep experienced nearly a 70% mortality rate after released, even if they were healthy upon release. The damage from barotrauma happens during the catching of the fish, and the damage to the fish's internal organs doesn't magically go away if you release the fish quickly. The damage has already been done and causes death in the fish after several days.

Do you have any plans on going to Siberia for burbot fishing? They seem to get bigger over there compared to the ones in America and Europe
@fishinggeeks2 жыл бұрын
Probably not lol. I have the world record, so they don’t get bigger over there. That would be a very expensive long trip just for burbot 😊
@T0iletTr00per2 жыл бұрын
@@fishinggeeks kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmrVqYFrjNt5Y5o check out this video! They catch a 26 pound burbot! I have seen even bigger ones on instagram! But these are not caught by sportfishing of course. I think it would be possible to break the world record over there :D but yeah that would be one insane burbot trip!

Really wish Alberta would listen… i don’t understand 1 over 75 on cold lake, makes no sense to me, can someone let me know why these regs are like this ?
@paulsierens92732 жыл бұрын
Major commercial overfishing in the past nearly wiped out the population on cold lake, Lake trout are a species that take many years to mature and to keep a good native breeding stock in the lake they only let you keep 1
@KC-AB20242 жыл бұрын
@@paulsierens9273 oh I know the limits, I’m just saying Alberta doesn’t have a clue how to manage a lake, why would I take breeders out, makes zero sense to me,
