The production quality on this is outstanding. The drone footage is a huge value add. Adds so much in terms of perspective. A lot of creative composition. I really enjoyed watching it. You caught some nice fish too but I geeked out on the how well it was made. It's like a small feature film. Great job!

I appreciate the feedback. I'm having fun, but making sure not to take it too serious. I will say, that Mavic is absolutely amazing and so much fun to operate. It's almost too easy. Lol. Can't wait to fly some more.

@@dynamicphotography_ Agreed. I fly the Mavic Air. Are you filming at 30 or 60 fps?
@dynamicphotography_

This was 60fps. The slow-mo is looking good. But I'm thinking I'll be going back to 30fps for the more cinematic look. @@OverlandPNW

@@dynamicphotography_ I've been shooting at 60 fps but was thinking of going to 30 fps. That's why I asked. I'll try it and see how it looks.

@@OverlandPNW I'm only starting to understand the pros and cons of different fps. I would like to integrate a mix depending on slow-mo or not. But it's so hard to know what's what, while actually trying to catch fish. That's when filming gets in the way of enjoying the fly-fishing.

I absolutely love the coastal rivers. I go almost every weekend through trout season.

Awesome! It's so much fun! I wish I had time to do more. What do you like to run? Obviously I like to throw a lot of dry flys, but I know a lot of guys enjoy swinging streamers for the sea run cutts (and lures are popular also). Thanks for watching!

Hey dude, thanks for stopping by. I enjoy your videos. It's cool to see what's going on (fly-fishing wise) over on the other side of the country. Yeah, this river and nearby ones here are loaded with good spots.

I thought it was a nice touch. Even though all of these coastal areas are blazed by longtime logging, I still find random old growth fir or cedar every once in a while... close to the river. They just beg for a nice hug. 😃

I think you should add bits on your gear setup, flies, and techniques that best fit the rivers you fish on.

Headed back next week (if conditions are good), if you're down for a Steelhead expedition! Was just over there a couple days ago, and the water was low & clear. Same story, need more precipitation. 😳

Another epic video Jeff! I’m heading to the coast in a few days to chase resident cutts, as the sea runs probably aren’t even in the tide waters yet. Care to give me a general area or fav river of yours. New to cutts on Oregon coast. From my readings, all the rivers have them, just cover water and you’ll find fish

Thanks! Might be a little early for sea runs, but you never know. Might get a surprise hook up. I recommend any the systems that drain into Tillamook Bay. I've had people recommend the Alsea and Siletz Rivers, but I've never been. But you're right, most all coastal rivers will have a run of sea runs. Either way, it's a blast for sure.

@@dynamicphotography_ Thanks for knowledge as always! I fished the Wilson last weekend and got into a lot of small juvenile bows/smolts which I was a little surprising. Only 1 Cutthroat. I fished too high up I think. Looking forward to exploring more coastal rivers as the sea runs come in!

@@lheftw1376 Yeah, I'm already looking forward to sea-run season. Probably August I'll start looking around. Part of the fun is following a gravel logging road, looking down at the holes, seeing potential. There's usually no other fisherman in the area...not many people know how fun sea run cutts are.

Fly fisherman use a variety of flies depending on where in the river they are targeting Sea Runs. I enjoy chasing them further upstream once they have established residency. At that point, they are typically feeding in the same behavior as resident rainbow trout on any other given river. I like to use stimulators, adult golden stones, and any version/color of caddis flies. After a missed strike, I might even experiment with an oversized mayfly. If they're hungry, they come up for it.

The season closed at the end of October. Next late summer, pick a coastal river and explore. They'll be there. Cover a lot of water and use stealth.

I'm not familiar with that specific area, but I would consider driving South of Astoria to the rivers that feed into Tillamook Bay.
