After spending the day Thursday at the Channing rail-yard watching the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad shuffle cars off the Amasa bound line, it was an easy guess as to where they might be going! Today they plowed snow off this train track that hasn't had a train on it since October 2019. This orange snow plow marked ELS 112 didn't have too deep of snow to contend with but with ELS 402 ( EMD GP38) & ELS 600 (EMD FP7) pushing there was no problems at all. Hope you like this video and all my others too!

I'm 71 years old and grew up next to the train yard in Stevens Point WI. Love the trains. My dad was a logger near Iron River before I was born and we would come back up there every summer for vacation. Logging and trains are in my blood. I enjoy your videos very much. Thanks

I like the F units too. When I hired out on the Texas & Pacific in New Orleans we still had some F-7s and I was able to run them until they were retired. With our only hill on our division being the Huey P. Long Bridge over the Mississippi River just up river from New Orleans, we had the oldest and lowest horsepower engines on this end of the railroad. I liked being higher above the rails in the F-7s than we were in the GP 7s & 9s. We did get the bigger engines down this way too but they were usually sent back north and west. Even on the run through trains they would take the smaller engines off in Alexandria and put the SD-40s and U-30on to go north and west.

It's always a treat, to see snowplows in action. Their are many types of plows. They can be found on many railroads. Sometimes, you can catch them plowing in the country. And they plow with speed. Snow flies everywhere. Very cool (pun intended).

Hi Jason. Nice video. I'm from Toledo, Ohio. My wife & I like going to the Keweenaw but I had a major stroke 5 years ago and although I made a pretty good recovery I had to retire and pay through the nose for insurance on my wife. She will be eligible for Medicare later this year so maybe then we will have the funds to get back to the UP. You do not know how much your videos brighten up our day! Thanks.

If you were driving along and didnt know this was out here you could lose control of your car as this orange/brown monster looms at you. Excellent work at Amasa...modern day Currier & Ives with the big snowflakes depot and church. When it goes past the grade crossing signals and the arms fold in and out it's as if it's saying "Excuse me. Coming thru" Excellent job of recording a rarity in the woods. .and Jason did all the driving!

Really nice video. You are in beautiful country. I’m in Florida so I can say that. This plow is something I’ve never seen before. Sure would hate for that machine to plow across the end of my driveway. PS. Mom grew up in Flint. I love your accent. I lived in central Indiana. We liked going up to Flint, Alpena, Mackinac. Beautiful state. Hey!! Don’t mind the haters. They’re jealous because they can’t do what you’re doing, can’t live your life. Have a great day!!!

Hey Jason, just watching your most recent video down here in Beavercreek, Ohio. I love the snow and even to drive in it doesn’t bother me. People down here in Southwest Ohio freak out just seeing a couple inches of snow and bitch about it. My wife was raised in a small town just outside Buffalo, New York and just shakes her head and laughs every time the weather people make such a big deal about a couple inches of snow. Love watching the trains getting around on the rails up there no matter how much snow there may be. People up there in the “UP” just learn to live with it and get on with life. Just keep those great videos coming!

Nice to see a number of die hard rail fans out in the blowing snow. Thirty minutes between crossings tells me there is a whole lot of unpopulated areas up there in the U.P.. It also tells me those trains do a lot of running through the woods, which must be nice for the crews.

Keep up the good work... I love the Short-line Railroads video. OSR ( Ontario Southland Railway ) west of Toronto, is my favourite here in Ontario. I'm a hour or so, just north of Toronto. And I enjoy the hard work you do to promote the E&SL Railway. From what I've seen you have some good rapport with some workers there and others, well there are always sour grapes somewhere. Just keep your distances from the trains, especially when people cut in front of the train for your safety. and wear a Hi-Vis ( Their not expensive and do save lives ) to let the rail-guys know your there. Get on their good side and you could catch a ride at some point. Not always, but it is possible. Be Safe out there chasing these behemoths anytime, or in the snowy rainy days, always. Don't worry about the nay-sayers, learn from what they may say, that is actually good ideas or even bad ones.

That's good team work right there. And that was definitely a thumbs up. Believe me, even if they have a grouch or two, most likely are fine with the filming. I've had a few interesting jobs earlier in life and would like to have some of it filmed to look back on today. Aside from that, they did a damn fine job on restoring that plow and that F unit and should want to show them off. A little touch up on the Conrail would look sharp as well. Don't acknowledge the nagative posters either. They'll find something better to do, or somebody else to hassle.
