Puding raja tastes like an English dessert probably because Malay royal families have plenty of anglophiles among them. Our first Prime Minister was a prince and he loved sheperd's pie, for example. Tunku Azizah, wife of Pahang's crown prince, helped popularize puding raja and she's half-British too.
@ChasingaPlate

Hi syafiqjabar. It had such an English flavour to it. Being from New Zealand those are flavours we're used to also so it was so interesting to eat. I really enjoyed it! Thanks for the info and for watching! Cheers, Thomas 😀

Omg, that striking red chilli hotness just exploded my vision... Keropok liqueur hahaha.... Smoked bananas in the Puding Raja manis nak potong kaki... so sweet that you chop your feet of due to diabetes... Great price difference for wild fish vs caged fish, but in Pahang you get more caged fish reared in the running river as opposed to fish reared in ponds which tastes muddier.

as a Pahang origins, i am so glad n honored to see this. your reactions to each food really made me crave for all those though i can get it easily 😂😂. btw since we were neighbor to Terengganu, we have been very fond of Terengganu foods like keropok lekor & sata like it was originally from Pahang. 😁😁 for the nasi lemak, was it shot at Restoran Zaman? wanna tell you that the nasi lemak there is one of thr best nasi lemak ever in my life! when i was a kid, my late father who has some business matter in Kuantan will always returned home (2hr away from Kuantan) with nasi lemak from there. or whenever we went to Kuantan, he will always brought us to have breakfirst there. what a memory...💖💖💖 btw for the Puding Raja, i dont see any cashew nuts there. i usually bought one with the nuts. its tastier. next time, you can try go to Temerloh, Raub or Kuala Lipis for more traditional Pahang food. its heaven there! 😍😍😍

Hi littlelily 9002! So glad you enjoyed this video and that we were able to include some of your childhood favourite spots! It was indeed Restoran Zaman- we loved their nasi lemak- it was SO tasty!! We love how many of the eateries in Malaysia have such a long history and generations of families are able to enjoy the same food. We will have to keep an eye out for a Pudding Raja with cashew nuts- sounds delicious. We're looking forward to exploring more of Pahang soon- such a great food state! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one mate. Hope you enjoy the other content we have lined up on the channel 😄😄😄 Cheers, Sheena

Yet to watch the video...Pudding 🍮 Raja...it must be nice one but all pudding are not so much different in texture except the differences of the optional ingredients like fruits...be it Royal or not...pudding is still a pudding and only those who enjoys it will like it...and I'm one of the people who enjoy it in cold condition with lots of fruits cuts...😀

YUM! We get a bit confused as we're never sure which form of pudding people are referring to tomie myspace. The American form so dairy/mousse/custardy type dessert or pudding as in dessert which is how we refer to it in NZ. Which do you mean tomie myspace? 😄 Cheers, Sheena

Are the package s on the table free to customers who are buying an entree?
@ChasingaPlate
@ChasingaPlate 6 жыл бұрын
Nope the packages are the nasi lemak bungkus- it's very common for them to be sitting on the table for easy access as a quick snack or in addition to other food you may have ordered. It's one of the simplest meals you can get in Malaysia, it's very cheap and is often eaten on the go. Coconut rice, chilli, boiled egg, fried anchovies, peanuts and sometimes cucumber. Such a great combo! Hope you enjoyed this food hunt SaRaH Kruch! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena

Many foods in Kuantan,Pahang have common taste with foods in Terengganu. Keropok for example is one of them. Specifically the foods in Kuantan are similar to the ones from Terengganu. Many of Kuantan old residents mostly originated from Terengganu. So they carry the recipes and spread them in Kuantan. However the further south and west you go, you will see the differences and varieties. The royal pudding is not the traditional Pahang cuisine. It based on the influence of British cuisine. It is famous because of the recipe is brought out to the common people by the royal family themselves. Before that, nobody knew about the royal pudding even among the Pahang people.

Hi Nicole Waithira. Exciting that you're heading to Malaysia! Where will you be visiting? We're sadly not there at the moment. English is very widely spoken so you will be fine on that front but it would be helpful to learn a few questions in bahasa melayu to ask if meat is in a dish etc. Also there is lots of incredible Indian food which will often be at least vegetarian but will often be vegan also. Have an amazing trip and let us know if you need more info! Cheers, Thomas 😀
