I got quite depressed after moving to the USA many, many years ago. I had no idea how bad the food here is. I think it's the main reason my weight remain the same as I was when I came here 30 years ago. I rarely eat fast food or drink sugary drinks, and mainly cook my own meals and exercise daily, so that's a plus for me. But seeing you guys eat good street food really bring back memories. Keep up with the good eats and thx for videos.

Try nasi tomato guys! I don't know where is the best place to get the best nasi tomato around KL and south Malaysia since I'm from northern part of Malaysia. By the way, when you get the right one..it is really delicious. The tomato rice comes with ayam merah, jelatah(mix of veggies) and air asam(maybe in northern Malaysia only). Sometimes jelatah is replaced with dalca cair in which the combo with dalca cair is far better for me. Dalca cair is mix of veggies in watery dall gravy that include carrot,potato,eggplant,long bean, chicken leg/neck. Nasi tomato is superrr delicious and nutritious too like nasi lemak. Goodluck dear food traveller!

Good for you guys! It's been a while since I've had nasi kukus, and I'm really glad you guys found a nice one. By the way, I've been wondering, you guys are now familiar with Nasi Kandar Pelita . Have you ever had the chicken soup there? It's completely different from any soups out there. It's nothing like Chinese, Western or Malay soups. It's definitely something interesting.
@ChasingaPlate7 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, we loved this dish SO MUCH! We've only ever had the plain soup at Pelita- not the chicken one but we found it so tasty! Such an interesting flavour. We'll be sure to order the chicken next time- I also would love to try the kambing. Thanks for watching truebluekit and cheers for commenting. Sheena

nasi kukus is not really that special imho.
@truebluekit7 жыл бұрын
Well, nowadays, what really is special? If you look hard enough, there's always someone selling even festive dishes every day. So, special foods are really subjective. I think people in general aren't necessarily looking for the most special or unique dishes, but dishes that are done very well. Just take a look at the humble nasi lemak. What's so hard about making it? But some places make them so well they can't make enough of them. So yeah, nasi kukus might not be all that special, but when done well... cheers!
@rizlanghazali9857 жыл бұрын
When you order soup at a Mamak Restaurant, you may want to ask whether they have different soup with different meat as opposed to one general soup with option of the meat like chicken, beef or mutton etc... I only order if it is Chicken, Beef or Mutton in its own soup. Because the Mutton will spoil the Chicken or Beef flavour. Ask for bread too to dip into the soup... :-D

Gosh. This brings back memories. I used to eat at the same Nasi Kukus Ilham every Friday. The uniqueness is the gravy's mixture of sweet, sour, spicy and salty. You'll get a more even taste every mouthful if you mix the gravy with the rice fully before you eat. BTW - the corn drink is with artificial syrup. Watery. So-so taste. You were asking about location? Its in Mutiara Damansara. And I assume we'll see a video on Asam Pedas place nearby soon. There's also an ikan patin restaurant there but the prices can be very expensive.
@ChasingaPlate7 жыл бұрын
Hi jumbeaux1! We really loved this dish! Mixing all the gravy and the rice gave such a brilliant flavour. It was a really special meal. Thanks for the info re location. We were just mentioning that we always put that info in the description so other people can find the details about where we eat. We didn't visit the Asam Pedas place this time but we did film another video in the area so watch out for that on the channel soon. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Thomas 😀

Hello there. What an epic meal. That's worth it to dive for. To be honest, there's so many dishes that you guys must try. It's because Malaysia is multi-cultural and also multi-racial. From Malay to Indian. At Borneo especially Sarawak, there's more than 20 races. So, there's so many cuisines & delicacies you guys give a go. Okay. I'd love guys to go to Malay wedding. Food? always never let you down. 😊😊😊

Hi again guys! I hope your weekend was good and filled with wonderful eateries ;). I really enjoyed watching this video as you guys came to my area. My place is less than 10 minutes away from that restaurant, which does indeed serve one of the best Nasi Kukus in Petaling Jaya and KL. The next dish I think you should try is Soto. It's originally Indonesian but the Malaysian version has done some tweaks to it and when it's prepared well, it's truly heavenly. Alas, I am not sure which restaurant serves the best Soto , but perhaps the other viewers can put in their recommendmations for it.
