Foreign soldiers from the International Legion of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, currently defending Chasiv Yar, shared insights into their journey to the unit. Operating an 82 mm mortar to bolster infantry support, the unit consists of three soldiers. These foreign volunteers joined the Legion after the start of the full-scale invasion.

Those volunteers of international legion could do a bid deal if they plan strikes with drones on air defenses and the depot ammunition and military airports close to the borders ... This would make the pilots more tired with their missions flying for hours more to reach to the Ukrainian borders as they would fly from areas further from the border ...

I get it that some are scared. Don’t want to get involved. They are not the people to send to the front. But there are so many other roles they can do where they will never see combat. Can’t just hide while your way of life is under attack. Everything they know, who they are, what they can do only happened because of the system they live under. That is what is going to disappear in Russia takes over. There needs to be some kind of back end hiring guarantee for people that just can’t manage to be a solider. Be a cleaner, mechanic, driver, cook, prison guard etc etc.

Sadly i heard a lot of bad things that happens to the international legion there between 2022 - 2023 but i hope they have fixed it now. It was mostly the treatment.

To be fair, managing such a legion on top of managing your own army is difficult. Then there are things like language barriers, organisation, provision, selections etc. With time the process becomes more streamlined and refined.

Ukraine needs to be integrated with NATO; this starts at the ground level.

It’s already happening; they’ll be getting F-16’s this summer and have already been training and fighting with many western equipment like tanks, air defence systems, etc. This all smooths the process of joining NATO. So by the time the right moment comes, the only thing that needs to be done is a few documents and formalities and the integration will be swift. 🇳🇱💙🇺🇦💙🇪🇺

The Ukrainian pilots will be given a tall order: deliver top cover to a SEAD force knocking out all things missile battery. Their historical equivalent are the Thud missions over North Vietnam sum six decades ago. I do not envy them.
