Empty Nester here! My one and only baby left for college 13 hours from home at 18 and never moved back.. I can’t complain she is a good girl. She is in an Ivy League doctoral program now. I’m a proud mom. You have done a great job! Your kids are strong enough to make their way in this world. It’s so tough being a mom! It’s tougher watching them spread their wings and fly away. Focus on you for a change! Prayers for your peace during this time!

My heart is hurting for you right now! You are having perfectly normal grieving, over your boys not being home. I have an 18 year old son who has just started the process of joining the Air Force. I am soooo proud of him, but I can't even think about him being gone from home. I dread it. We are 5 hours from San Antonio and you will love it! The Air Force graduation ceremony is very emotional and so cool! Thankfully the Air Force is not usually the first on the ground in times of war. Enjoy Texas! Congratulations on your son serving for his country.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel....the kids turn out well, they learn to deal with their own issues and as long as they know you are there for moral support they will be fine. You gave them all a good home life and taught them to be caring people....just take it a day at a time and you will get thru it. I am doing my best to keep myself in check. It is waaay harder than you make it seem. You made me go to Dollar Tree and it wasn't even a cool store here in Toronto. I even asked them if all the stuff I pick3d up was $1.25. They looked at me like girl everything is a $1.50 CAD. Lol

First, I have to say that you are such a precious individual. I’m not one to ever comment on social media, but I’ve been watching your videos for a while and I can tell that your heart is hurting, so I just wanted to reach out:) It’s such a catch-22, we’re so proud of our children and want them to succeed and have their own life, but at the same time, we want them home;) It’s so true that our time with them is so short! I’ve been able to watch a few videos when your children were with you and it’s evident how much they love and respect their mama! You’ve done an amazing job, single-handedly raising them! I’m recently an empty nester and I have to say that I still struggle with it. My husband and I do enjoy ourselves, but it’s so different from the full house we had for so many years! We raised 4, three boys and the baby is a girl. So when you spoke about the difference in raising boys vs girls, I understood exactly what you were saying! There’s something about a mama & son relationship. Boys love their mamas. Don’t get me wrong, I know our daughter loves me, but the dynamic is so different from how my boys show their love for me. My husband and I look at each other so often and say how truly blessed we are with our four babies and now with our beautiful daughter in law AND precious granddaughter;) From the way you speak, I assume you are a woman of faith, so continue to pray and giving yourself grace. You will make it through this journey, just like you’ve overcome ever other obstacle that came your way. Keep your sweet chin up!

You're right that you sometimes need to take some time to do whatever you feel you need. Life changes aren't easy but I know from experience that it's best to take time to adjust and "do what you need to do". Learning to pay more attention to your own needs is very important, and if you can somehow meet people to share doing something, that's great. And by the way, I admire you for being so honest on KZbin!

Tiffany I loveeee these chats, I do! I mean I love all your different videos but these chit chats are some of my fav. Raised a son and he was easy, but being a girl myself Lordt the hard yrs my Mama had with me wooo!! No bad stuff like bad stuff but the hormones!!! About the "process" my Mama & Granny handled difficult or sad "processes" different. My Mama was the stay busy at every second & I do mean every second (think that was her way of numbing 🤷🏼♀️). My Granny's was allow yourself to FEEL it, cry, be angry, depressed, anxious, all you need to feel but don't STAY in it. Feel it, let it move through you but don't let it take up house in you. So I find that I pull a little of both of their ways to process, somewhere in the middle. Love you girl 😘

OMG….it hit home when you mentioned parenting your boys seemed much easier than parenting your daughter. I have two boys, 27 and 22. My 22 yro is out of state for college. He has the same birthday as Kaia! My 27 yro joined the Air Force 4 1/2 years ago. He’s stationed in Hawaii. My boys had me thinking I had this parenting thing down, but my daughter who is 18 and started her first year in college this past August has tested ALL of my parenting skills. It has been a different and challenging experience, but one that I am grateful for. With everyone out of house, I now get to rediscover me! It’s sad and takes some time adjusting, but it is also absolutely wonderful!! We talk all the time and I make trips to visit when they can’t come home. I only have one piece of advice to give that was the only thing that kept me sane. I turned it over to God, it was all in his hands. It was so hard to give that control of making sure that they were safe up. I have 3 sons and 1 daughter, you are absolutely right...girls are 100% more difficult then boys. The oldest joined the Army at 20, turned 21 in basic, went straight to Iraq, served in Germany, got out after three years, finished college and re-enlisted as an officer. He retired right before the pandemic hit with 25 years total served. He’s been all over the world, got his master’s degree and learned Chinese. He’s flown me to many wonderful places, including China! I now live in a house that he bought for me to live in, and he supports me. I was a single mom (divorced)too, and the oldest was fairly easy, the youngest was tough and we are estranged. I did my best at the time, but I have many regrets. My kids were latch-key kids. One handled it well, the other didn’t. I’m so glad you got to be there for your kids. You’re the mom I wish I could have been.

My son was a breeze! If we had had my daughter first I'm not sure we would of had a second child! Lol Once my son and daughter were arguing/fighting..He screamed at me from the other room saying,"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING HAVING A SECOND CHILD, MOM!!" Meaning his younger sister of course. It is such a challenge with girls. But it will totally be worth it someday as my daughter raises her daughter who is just like she was. She totally gets it and understands now. Lol

Your statement about “giving up your social life to concentrate on your kids tells me what a GREAT Mom you are, you are a special Mom to think that way. You will get through this, being a Mom is one of the greatest jobs but also one of the hardest!

I'm a 33yo mom of 4 kids- 8,6,4 and 8 months and this touched me. I feel you- Motherhood is a mother lol but you've done a wonderful job! You have a huge community behind you! As a child who's mom wasn't that supportive stay on Kaia love her though the hard because it is hard and keep being supportive and loving and understanding

Hi Tiffany! My only child, my beautiful daughter, is turning 33 in 3 months and we are only now finding out she has ADD and she is on the low end of Autism. Not knowing this as she was growing up, I made a lot of mistakes in raising her. At my age of 61, I thought my life would be so different but I find I still have many more trials and battles ahead of me. Parenting is NEVER easy and we remain "rabid mama bears" until the bitter/sweet end. YOU are an AWESOME mom! Please don't let ANYONE ever tell you otherwise!!! Keep rockin' it Mama Bear!!!! Hugs and love from Florida!!! 😊❤🎉❤😊

Hey Tiffany, I am a single mother of a boy and girl and in my experience, you are right, teenage girls are a whole different breed. My son was easy but my daughter, whoa a whole different world, lol. You're absolutely right do not take anything she says or does personally, she loves you more than she ever has, however she isn't the daughter she use to be. Growing pains I guess, and while we as adults went through growing pains at that age experiencing them again with our daughters is tough. My daughter and I were and are very close but during those teen years I felt pushed out and left in the dark. Like you said they are finding their way and aren't as willing to share their lives beyond the surface. She is now a momma of 2 boys and is doing a great job. I'm proud of her. We share our lives like we did before the "teen years", and she tells me all the time I'm her hero. I was scared and worried for her during those years and hoped that she would remember all I taught her about the world which for the most part she did. We had some battles that left me feeling hopeless, sick with worry and sad but hang in there and things get better. Keeping the door open while she is putting a lock on it was tough, but we managed, and you will to. I was like you my kids were and are my life and I put them first even before myself most of the time and that's where I think you are now, who is Tiffany? When you are suddenly by yourself you may find out you're not sure who you are beyond Mom. You have been making life choices about everything with them foremost in your thoughts and now you can decide what does Tiffany want for herself and it's scary. It's odd to be able to come and go or make decisions based only on what you want. It takes time to realize that you have a freedom you haven't had in a very long time. I will keep you and your children in my prayers.

Girl, it does come so fast. When you’re in it it doesn’t feel that way, but when they go on, it’s tough no matter what, mothering is the hardest job we do. One thing I did before my son left was to show him how you build your tribe and surround yourself with positive people, doing that really helped me even now because I have those people and more just coming out of the woodwork that chill with me now that I’m by my lonesome. I guess that’s what I’d reccomend the most, bc it helps them see how to gather friends, and helps you gather yours before they go.
