Empty Nester here! My one and only baby left for college 13 hours from home at 18 and never moved back.. I can’t complain she is a good girl. She is in an Ivy League doctoral program now. I’m a proud mom. You have done a great job! Your kids are strong enough to make their way in this world. It’s so tough being a mom! It’s tougher watching them spread their wings and fly away. Focus on you for a change! Prayers for your peace during this time!

Just enjoy your daughter as much as you can while she's there. When my last one left I was CRUSHED! I felt so lost, so empty, depressed and so sad. I cried a lot as each one of my 5 kids moved out. The last video I made was about empty nesting. Haven't made one since for many reasons. It totally changes your life in every way once the kids are all moved out. I have two little dogs, and without them I would go CRAZY! The quietness of living alone is NOT easy when you're used to kids being around. It takes time to adjust to the new environment in your home without the kids. You'll get through it, but don't always push away those sad feelings, sometimes you just need to cry it out, lay in bed for the day, or just feel like total crap, cry, yell out your frustrations, etc. It's a huge change.

Mothers put all their eggs in mother baskets! We all do it. This is exactly why there is a Mothers Day. Our kids love us but yes it’s hard. I have four from 24 to 15 and it’s changing. They can be mean. You find yourself thinking “what happened to my sweet babies” God bless all you dedicated mothers! You Got this! 😊

Hi Tiffany, first of all you look so nice and comfortable folding all your towels!! My sister had 2 boys and 1 girl. She always told me 'be glad you had boys' and we would laugh. Now I have 2 granddaughters and I now know what she was talking about!! Keep that great relationship you have with your daughter, you just have to keep being the good Mom you are !! So very happy you will be seeing Cayman soon and you got to talk to him. Hang in there girl you got this!! Enjoy.

Big hugs! You are doing a great job! Speaking of challenges. Feel free to challenge her to wash and fold her own dang towels. Just cuz you work from home, that doesn’t mean you have to do all the house chores. If she is about to be an adult. She can start practicing adult living which includes laundry ❤🙂

Daughter and moms is a tough dynamic but remember you are the Mom not her friend. You need to teach her how to be a good person and that includes how she treats you. Every time you donate or volunteer you set an example. I encourage you to include her when you do your good works so she doesn’t take your generosity for granted. She is Not entitled to the things you give her . She is lucky to have you! Feel the love from all of us with launched kids or kids at home❤❤❤

My sons are now 49 and almost 54. The oldest joined the Army at 20, turned 21 in basic, went straight to Iraq, served in Germany, got out after three years, finished college and re-enlisted as an officer. He retired right before the pandemic hit with 25 years total served. He’s been all over the world, got his master’s degree and learned Chinese. He’s flown me to many wonderful places, including China! I now live in a house that he bought for me to live in, and he supports me. I was a single mom (divorced)too, and the oldest was fairly easy, the youngest was tough and we are estranged. I did my best at the time, but I have many regrets. My kids were latch-key kids. One handled it well, the other didn’t. I’m so glad you got to be there for your kids. You’re the mom I wish I could have been.

First, I have to say that you are such a precious individual. I’m not one to ever comment on social media, but I’ve been watching your videos for a while and I can tell that your heart is hurting, so I just wanted to reach out:) It’s such a catch-22, we’re so proud of our children and want them to succeed and have their own life, but at the same time, we want them home;) It’s so true that our time with them is so short! I’ve been able to watch a few videos when your children were with you and it’s evident how much they love and respect their mama! You’ve done an amazing job, single-handedly raising them! I’m recently an empty nester and I have to say that I still struggle with it. My husband and I do enjoy ourselves, but it’s so different from the full house we had for so many years! We raised 4, three boys and the baby is a girl. So when you spoke about the difference in raising boys vs girls, I understood exactly what you were saying! There’s something about a mama & son relationship. Boys love their mamas. Don’t get me wrong, I know our daughter loves me, but the dynamic is so different from how my boys show their love for me. My husband and I look at each other so often and say how truly blessed we are with our four babies and now with our beautiful daughter in law AND precious granddaughter;) From the way you speak, I assume you are a woman of faith, so continue to pray and giving yourself grace. You will make it through this journey, just like you’ve overcome ever other obstacle that came your way. Keep your sweet chin up!

Always enjoy your videos! My heart felt for you watching this one! Even though I may be a little bit older, I totally understand and remember those days! I had two boys and one went into the Marine Corps and my other was already out of the house - plus being a single mom was the hardest part of my life - so I get it. Always will listen, we all have those days were we just need to talk! Love listening to your southern twang :) Hope your day was letting you feel a bit better after just releasing what you needed to get off your chest! Hugs!!!

Hi Tiffany, I raised two sons and it had its moments. But compared to banging heads with a daughter, that would try my patients. Especially when we have lived and know from experience. We only want the best for them. And your sweet puppy feels your stress, I can see it in his eyes and body language. I'm 71 and I know I gave my parents a little trouble too. I've been married for 52 years two sons, four grandchildren and four greatgrands. They all are special each is different. I wish you joy and peace💖

Girl, it does come so fast. When you’re in it it doesn’t feel that way, but when they go on, it’s tough no matter what, mothering is the hardest job we do. One thing I did before my son left was to show him how you build your tribe and surround yourself with positive people, doing that really helped me even now because I have those people and more just coming out of the woodwork that chill with me now that I’m by my lonesome. I guess that’s what I’d reccomend the most, bc it helps them see how to gather friends, and helps you gather yours before they go.

I grew up without much and had to work to support myself and buy my own things for school and stuff and I swore to myself that my kids would never have to deal with that stress. Fast forward to now, I kept that promise to myself and my kids aren't spoiled entitled brats or anything but they definitely aren't hurting for stuff. One day my daughter (almost 17) said to me that I buy her love when I literally do what I'm supposed to do as a parent and provide for her and my son. That hurt me A LOT! I feel like a failure often (I know I'm not but I have my days) and her saying that really got to me. I'm doing my best. Anyway, my daughter is def the hardest. Always has been since she was little.

If it were me, I'd make sure the person using all the towels, etc. washed them! She's plenty old enough to do laundry, and actually I'm thankful that while I lived at home while I went to a local university, I was responsible for things like doing my own laundry, so that when I moved many miles away for graduate school, I was used to it. I feel the same way about your son. On the other hand, my parents always managed to have a nice mix of teaching me to "fend for myself" yet feeling well-protected. I have a feeling you'll do a good job of it!

Hey Tiffany, I am a single mother of a boy and girl and in my experience, you are right, teenage girls are a whole different breed. My son was easy but my daughter, whoa a whole different world, lol. You're absolutely right do not take anything she says or does personally, she loves you more than she ever has, however she isn't the daughter she use to be. Growing pains I guess, and while we as adults went through growing pains at that age experiencing them again with our daughters is tough. My daughter and I were and are very close but during those teen years I felt pushed out and left in the dark. Like you said they are finding their way and aren't as willing to share their lives beyond the surface. She is now a momma of 2 boys and is doing a great job. I'm proud of her. We share our lives like we did before the "teen years", and she tells me all the time I'm her hero. I was scared and worried for her during those years and hoped that she would remember all I taught her about the world which for the most part she did. We had some battles that left me feeling hopeless, sick with worry and sad but hang in there and things get better. Keeping the door open while she is putting a lock on it was tough, but we managed, and you will to. I was like you my kids were and are my life and I put them first even before myself most of the time and that's where I think you are now, who is Tiffany? When you are suddenly by yourself you may find out you're not sure who you are beyond Mom. You have been making life choices about everything with them foremost in your thoughts and now you can decide what does Tiffany want for herself and it's scary. It's odd to be able to come and go or make decisions based only on what you want. It takes time to realize that you have a freedom you haven't had in a very long time. I will keep you and your children in my prayers.

My younger two are still home but they’re starting to have some normal teenager tribulations as well, so I feel you! I do have to agree, boys are A BREEZE for sure! I don’t have girls and I’m glad, lol! I grew up in an all-girl household.

Your video made me cry but in a good way. I’m going through very similar situations and am struggling daily. I needed your company and needed to know I’m not alone! I have no friends because my kids come first! I homeschooled all 4 of mine and still homeschool 2 teenage daughters. It’s tough and hard! Love them but really struggle with nobody to talk to and vent to. My boys were difficult but in a very very different way! My girls oh boy!! I take it all very personally and need to learn how not to. Thank you for your honesty with us all!!!

Thank you for sharing your journey!

I used a lot of towels at that age. That all came to a quick halt when I got married and had to wash my own towels lol!!! Hang in there mama. I have two teenage boys and it’s not for the faint of heart. You’ve got this!

Oh yay! You’ll love Texas! I’ll be in SA as well. Gotta get some puffy tacos while you’re there! Hang in there mama! You got this. Praying for you girl! Mom of 4 I can relate with the changes . BTW My oldest son is in GA - Duluth. My advice would be just trust in God and let your kiddos see this relationship . Then cover your babies prayer and let the good Lord do his thing! Btw Free Chapel is an awesome church - we go to service there when we visit our son - Powerful Services! You’re A Great Mom! 🦋

I totally understand what your saying!! I’ve been a mom since 17, I’m 51 and an empty nester and it takes a long time to realize what I’m supposed to do now. When my last one left, I was like…ok now what?!?’ Now I have 7 grandbabies so I’m busy again. But yeah it’s a lot. I have 3 daughters and 1 son, yes daughters are ALOT different 🤣🥰

Hi Tiffany, let me tell you, OHhhhhhhh Boy! I have 3 sons and 1 daughter and Definitely my daughter made up for all 3 of her brothers 😂, i was a teen mama as well, I had my 1st at 17 and the other 3 followed suit! I know how your feeling being an empty nester, I had such a hard time with each one as they made the decision to move out on their own, but still shopped at Mama’s anytime they wanted and i did the same as you I would buy “goodies” and cook all the time for them and they would either pick it up or this mama would just love to bring them surprises too. NOW Their all grown and married and im not only a VERY Proud Mama, also a VERY Proud Grandma. Tiffany your an AMAZING Mama, and all your AMAZING children are gonna continue to be GREAT JUST LIKE YOU! its not depressing tome, i have to be informed. It reminds me that it could always be worse and it keeps me humble. i have running water, a roof over my head, a car, my body still works, i can walk and i have freedoms. The News, i watch once a day, all in balance, don't watch obsessively it will freak you out. But, its reality and I live in reality. I started caring and getting involved in politics when I realized we have an effect on the laws, rules and politics especially of our town.

You got this Tiff, I know you will find your way through. Girls are something else they will test your last nerve they give you what you gave your mom. Boys are easy peasy because they want to please their mommy. I have faith that you will see her through. What are you going to do though when she’s gone?. It’s been super hard for me it’s like your identity is gone….❤❤❤

Hey Tiffany, I myself have a 17 yr old daughter, and a 22 yr old son. Me and my son are very close as well, I'm close with my daughter as well, but in a different way. I really believe you and your daughter will get thru this transition and become close again. You understand she's probably going thru feeling of change as well with her brothers leaving home. Im sure she's feeling a lose as well and maybe doesn't know how to express her feeling and it's causing heartache between the two of you. Your a wonderful mother and woman with great children, things will get better and you both will get thru this . Prayers for your family.❤

Hi Tiffany. This is the video I am watching now. The middle son Cayman went into the Air Force hey. Well I have some experience as a mom with that. My youngest daughter is Air Force. She’s not on active duty right now. But she did ten years of service. Make sure you and your daughter go to his graduation in San Antonio, Texas. It’s a good experience. Plus you’ll be able to go up and tap him out. And that first hug will make you so proud.❤ You definitely do not want to miss it. God bless

When my son was in the Army it was when they were sending soldiers overseas and I prayed that GOD wouldn't make him go and the day before he was supposed to leave they found a medical compli action with his foot and he couldn't go. My children are now in there late 30s and you have to keep praying for them always and GOD will get you and them through. In a few years she will be grown and be your best friend and understand the decisions you made for her.😊Happy Birthday to Kyia

Tiffany, I get exactly what you’re going through in a different way. My mom lives with me and we both deal with health issues at times. It’s hard for two women to be in the same home after we once had our own lives. Stay positive and keep busy and I know you’ll be fine. Praying for you. Thanks for sharing.😊

I got 3 daughters! My Gosh! Just talk to the wall, it’ll listen more than the girls 😂. I’m an empty nester. You will go through it Tiffany. Be prepared. When your daughter moved out that’s when it’s going to hit harder than ever. Your alone. Memories floods your mind. It’ll take a while but it’ll get better and then you’ll love your time.
