It doesn't work so well for ABAP medium level questions. For example i had to replace an offset in a structure. It was constantly giving wrong answer with great confidence 😂

basically the day chat gpt can analyse a car engine which is faulty and really find exactly what is going wrong (spark plug carburetor pistons etc) and give a correct diagnose, which will make car repair engineers uneccesary, that will be the day programmers wont be necessary anymore but as long as all it is doing is giving a list of possible causes based on what it has found in google, it is still a long way off

It can't replace completely but can reduce..

It cannot create entire code, hence it can actually make the coding faster. Coders can resolve their issues faster rather than jumping over various blogs. It will improve the delivery time, hence at a long term reduction in coders can happen.

chat gpt is very impressive but in terms of programming it is only one step further right now from what we programmers did with google every time we had a problem, that is, it basically searches for templates to send emails and create reports the same way we did with google up to now, in abap today there is more maintenance of programs than writing reports, that is, we debug a lot but we dont really write programs from scratch anymore, and if we do, we usually pick a template from either google or another similar program in our abap environment and basically copy and change things. in that sense chat gpt is not really giving us anything new, and will only be able to replace us once it can listen to the conversation of a customer, analyse the code the customer is refering to, find the bug and give a correction, that day, programmers wont be necessary anymore but up to then, giving us templates the same way google did, is really good, but it is not THAT intelligent. This day will come eventually, but my impression is that as with google it can store loads of information and it is extremely powerful, but it cannot take YET the decisions we programmers take every day which are not mechanical.
