What I don't understand is why don't they just have an office romance ( in the 1987 movie).. slowly, it becomes known that Clark and Lois are dating. I suppose it was because it was a movie instead of a TV show. Clark could become a bit less clumsy and nervous, Lois less mean... It was done in the TV show "Lois and Clark" and the far later "Superman and Lois" , with great elegance. I also like the Smallville version. I'd rather know the truth about man I love than forget entirely, who and what he was, wouldn't everyone?

The earth spinning time travel thing was supposed to be at the end of the second film. The first film was originally supposed to end on a cliffhanger where Superman captures both missiles and sends them to space. One of the missiles was supposed to hit the phantom zone and free Zod as well as his two soldiers. The producers didn't want the first movie to end on a cliffhanger so the time travel happened earlier than originally planned. The Richard Donner cut is essentially what Superman II would've been had things gone according to plan.

Not really... early in the show (the first 2 seasons) definitely. She actually nearly marries Lex Luther because he's glamorous, rich and plays the humanitarian (and the Lex Luther in Lois and Clark is the very best one, I've ever seen) in the early second season, she has a near-romance with a Federal agent, because he is rather exciting and glamorous... while Clark is "Chocolate ice cream". That goes back to what Lois Lane in the Movie said... she doesn't want a dull life. A marriage, mortgage and 2.5 children aren't for her. But Lois in "Lois and Clark" matures a lot ... she really grows up .. from being a smug, rather cruel feminist and sophisticated city woman, she becomes a truly loving fiance and then, wife of Clark Kent, who is also Superman. I love the arc of her life and would give a lot to have seen the show have 1-3 more seasons.

Not in the Smallville version. That one was special for me because she fell for Clark and The Blur (his proto-Superman identity) at the same time, and was horribly conflicted about being in love with two men. @@WillCamx Methinks thou dost protest too much! You're trying to make something of my comment that wasn't intended. I merely pointed out the similarities between Clark's believing he had to hide his odd secret even from Jonathan and Martha and a gay kid having to do the same thing until (hopefully) the parents turn out to be as wise and loving as the Kents. And, of course, he could never tell even his closest friends, thinly disguising himself with eyeglasses. He might as well have worn a false beard. Another similarity is that, except for the awkward relationship with Lois, Clark never had a girlfriend or went on dates. Since closeted gay men get asked this question all the time, it's surprising (in this century) that no one ever asks Clark if he's gay. Btw, are you following the latest TV series?
