It's well worth the watching.. I've enjoyed it. It isn't as serious as the modern Superman and Lois and Man of steel, nor as melodramatic and muddled as Smallville was. It keeps the fun, but also has some really fine drama and even, tragedy.

That show nearly did something magical... It kept the perfect balance between humor-tragedy- fun... It reminds me of the first Star Trek, which did the exact same thing. It's a perfect blend of characterization, story telling.

I always loved how Reeves portrayed Clark Kent as a hyper neurotic coward. Henry Cavill is good as Superman, but I feel like there isn't any distinction between his Superman and Clark personas.
@davidhazel5854
@davidhazel5854 2 жыл бұрын
The only actor who came close to portraying a similar distinction was Brandon Routh. All of the other actors have played pretty much the same character, with almost-identical mannerisms and speech, for both Clark Kent and Superman. Christopher Reeve made us believe Superman could hide behind a pair of glasses.

One of my favorites. The mask nearly drops... he speaks of the danger of over-reaching.. speaks like Superman would describe his possible actions and choice... and, when Lois says "Relax Clark you aren't Superman".. he realizes what he did and says 'I know" There is a small scene in another episode.. just a vignette. Clark is waiting for Lois to use a cash machine. A man is changing the tire on his car.. the jack begins to slip, and the car could have hit the man in the head... Clark notices it and just for a moment holds the car just long enough for the man to pull his head out from under the car. Clark smiles. He just saved a man's life and not even the man suspects anything.

He put a lot of fun into his Clark character.. that show had a lot of humor in it and some of the most dramatic and emotional scenes I've ever seen in Superman. Clark has fun. Nothing phases him. That was more like TV shows used to be. Very rarely does the humor degenerate into slap stick. Watch the original Star Trek, same thing. Somehow, some shows do work a kind of magic.

agreed! Something has gone wrong in Hollywood. Man of Steel looked like a computer game in Parts... too much violence and collapsing buildings. Barely any saves and the ones that were, there, seemed joyless, there were experts questioning who and what Superman was, constantly, speaking over the scenes of him being Superman. Didn't we see Clark for a moment at the very end? that is what I remember. I don't know, maybe, this generation wants the moody, overdone plots and dire depressing circumstances. I hope this generation gets it's sense of humor and fun back, before I die. I didn't like the portrayal of Batman either.

@@dureteheiral1793 not only that ... there's a limit to how fast a keyboard can type because it is built in with debounce. For example, just press and how a key ... that's basically the max speed. So that clip was physically impossible not to superman, but to the keyboard. Furthermore, 90s CPU was damn slow to begin with.

@@chessten the show was aired between 1993-1997 right? If memory serves, at that time intel pentium mmx be 233 or 266 Mhz models were reigning supreme, those two cpus were simply the fastest money can buy aside of higher priced and usually allocated for servers or high end workstation Pentium Pro versions.. By today standard yeah, 90s cpu clockspeed is a joke..

Couple of instances where the Arrowverse Clark used his powers (and I'm sure there'll be more to come after Superman & Lois premieres): - In "The Adventures of Supergirl" (*Supergirl* Season 2, Episode 1), both Clark and Kara used their X-ray vision in Lena Luthor's office to search for evidence possibly connecting L-Corp to the Venture explosion. - In Part 1 of the "Elseworlds" crossover (*The Flash* Season 5 Episode 9), when we first arrive in Smallville on Earth-38, Clark effortlessly picks up the front end of the old farm truck. Also, in a deleted scene from the same episode, Clark and Oliver-as-Barry race around the Kent Farm at super-speed so that Oliver could get said speed under control. There were a few in Superman Returns as well: - Clark plays fetch with his dog and ends up throwing the baseball into the next county. - At the Planet investigating the mysterious blackout which occurred earlier, Richard and Lois begin talking about Clark/Superman, and unknown to them, Clark's super-hearing picks up on their conversation. Later on, when Lois says she needs a break, Clark's X-ray vision reveals she's headed for the roof instead of the exits.

@@lionlyons It's not that Clark's eyes actually project x-rays; it's that he is able (as are all Kryptonians under a yellow sun) to perceive things more fully than ordinary people. It was explained better in a "Lois & Clark" book I read once.

Actually Clark in Smallville can see both. The episode where he first uses it he accidentally sees Lana in the locker room full detail and all. They just mainly show the Xray because its more convenient for the editors I guess, On top of that he has telescopic (seeing from great distances) and microscopic vision down to the atom.

I'd bet anything Chris was the same way with his three kids when they were little that Clark is with Lana's son Ricky. That's a large part of what made Chris so darn attractive personality wise, tbh.
