Bill said the oldest part was a fort overlooking the valley. Are you asking about the era before that, like Roman era? 🤣❤🌺🌹
@karinbergman16462 жыл бұрын
@@carolinegooder7091 yes, even before the Roman Era. Most chateaux, cathedrals, churches and nearly every settlement was built upon earlier habitations. Often churches with nearby labyrinths have associations with earlier cultural and geologic/glacial/interstitial eras. It's wonderful to have such deep history/prehistory in Europe. Here in the States much early settlement is either scraped off or covered by Glaciation and rising coastal waters. French archaeological law is also very specific about what belongs to the property owner, and what belongs to the government, based upon time period. So anyone doing approved work (all professional archaeology needs approval) must be sure to follow the guidelines. Same in States. It used to be that supervised students could do shovel testing on sites. Now in certain States, like Indiana where I live, one needs to be a professional archaeologist with a doctorate to even do shovel testing. Bill's Chateau is a very old one with a large expanse of property around it. Would be interesting to do LiDAR and Remote Sensing of the area for them! 💗
