That chateau is gawjus ❤ Very original, and if there are features missing like plasterwork, not too difficult to replace. Are the windows single paned? Is the roof gonna need attention? Gutters, taking the water away from the chateau? Heating? All the practical things 😉 Absolutely love the walled garden, stables and lodge. Lodge is perfect for renting out to bring in income. Stables need more work. How exciting 😊

@@GoGoChateauI’m more than happy to share everything I’ve learned so far. There are significant differences in how things are done here and in the costs of labor. Managing a castle, as I can imagine, is quite a bit more complex than a house! One thing I can tell you is that roof repairs are absolutely crucial, especially given the amount of rain in France. Unfortunately, it’s also one of the most expensive tasks 😢. For example, we had to repair large sections of the roof on the back of our house that, at first glance, seemed perfectly fine. However, when walked on, they were disintegrating. We only discovered this while installing roof windows. It was an expensive and unexpected issue, but prioritizing items that can cause other problems down the line (usually the less exciting ones) is key early on. It’s definitely a bummer at the start, but once those essentials are sorted, the fun really begins! I have no doubt you’re going to kill it, the place already looks like a dream!

So wonderful to watch. I recognize so many places 😍😄 Wonderful to see it in the summer season as well. We have never been to Lake Como. Always wanted to. And will some day of corse. But we have been to Lake Garda several times. And it reminds a lot in the scenery. The chateau is beautiful and the town is pretty. My husband and I wish to buy a house in France but this particular thing we notice is concerning-where are all the people in the village? … it’s like a ghost town. I travel to France with my husband a bit and we are baffled by how a lot of towns and villages are just empty though there appears to be people living there somewhere! I come from Ireland where there are many small towns and villages but there is always somebody around .Could anyone in lighten me on the cause of this? I like being in rural communities but sometimes I think they may be just too isolated, especially in winter. Anyway, enjoying this channel and love this estate agent!!,😊😊

I totally feel ya! It's baffling. I did some research on it and from what I have ascertained it's that the French are quite private people and the village houses have back gardens and that is where they spend their time. I have a friend who lives is a really popular town in the Loire /Cher area and it's the same. It looks like no-one is home from the street. Shutters closed etc. In this particular situation the area is mostly farms so it's quite rural. People are at their own property, working etc.. but it is sleepy for sure! If the village has a market then that's where they can be seen. Saint-Aignan doesn't but other villages in the area do. If that piece is important to you then definitely make sure there is something within a 20 min radius or you will feel isolated ! I do notice that there are always flyers up for fetes and events so it's possibly about gathering vs moving around the village! Bon chance with your search for a property!
