I sense there’s a lot more going on in your world right now than you’re telling us, and and that’s OK. My mom used to always say to me “one day at a time” sweetheart one day at a time. If the Lord gives you a day you take that day and enjoy it, sometimes easier said than done. You’re doing an amazing job. You’re an amazing young man and I wish you the very best and all the happiness in the world. Remember one day at a time. ❤

Phil, I think you are an amazing man! We all have times when we just don't feel perky and bouncy for a thousand reasons. We have to tell ourselves it won't always be that way. Before you know it, something will happen to make you feel better about things. There is only so much a person can do. Take time to do something that you really enjoy doing. That usually brings you back and center's you. I care about you, all the way from Arkansas USA!

Mate, been watching you hobble around all week, keeping yourself busy is a good thing, having a brew with mates is great, you know the kettle is always on here, thanks for addressing the things that millions of people are going through right now, I think your viewers don’t know how much you’re loved here in France, and how much you put in to your friends to show them how important they are to you, I just wanted to say to the people who watch you channel that the guy in front of the camera is the same guy when the camera isn’t on, a warm, generous, caring fella, who would always go the extra mile, don’t quote this to me next time we meet, I’ll deny it 😂😂😂😂

I have had fame and fortune in my life. I have bought and sold beautiful historic mansions and even owned a convent like our friend Billy. I have owned a fleet of cars and boats but I always felt outside of myself. I didnt know who I was until I was 50 years old , I craved a simple life, A life to smell the roses as they say. I was always too driven and too ambitious and never could fully enjoy what I had. I now live simply in a small country cottage with my youngest son and I love it, Love it. Yes I still dream of a move to France and restoring a huge chateau but the dream alone makes me happy. Enjoy what you have and take the time to do as in this video, Sit and soak it in, Be happy with what you are blessed to have. That is why I suggested to you not to buy that other chateau and maybe not to even build the missing wing back on your chateau, Get out there and enjoy that beautiful patio. God bless you.

To the man who sheds a tear over squirrels and drives to Poland to help refugees: Holiday times like Easter or Christmas are a difficult season for many of us. It stirs up many emotions and memories some which may be happy and some that may involve loss and pain. It’s okay. They are part of all of us. Feelings don’t make us good or bad people. They are feelings. Acting on them, as you pointed out may lead us down a dangerous path and then it’s time to get help. Please, Phil stop “shoulding” on yourself. I suspect you like many of us are struggling many of life’s “slings and arrows”. Yes, you have a beautiful home, but more that that you have wonderful friends. You an amazing person. You are bright and incredibly sensitive. Be kind to yourself. You deserve no less.

So, I just want to say that I have had 3 days of tears. No reason why, I just cry when I am by myself. I am 49, married with a wonderful caring and hardworking husband. 2 beautiful but often challenging college students, and I myself am a returned college student to get my degree. But this week my heart is heavy and I just want to cry. I take time for myself daily and go on long 3-4 mile walks to just soak up the sun, hear the birds and unwind. Your words helped me to know that I am not alone. We all have these moments and it is natural, and we will work through them. Thank you for your honesty and sincerity. I appreciate it, as I know that others do too. Like is not always rainbows and sunshine. Occasionally we get some clouds but eventually they blow over. Have a fabulous weekend, and heal your back and mind.

I've been stuck in one room for many years now, with mobility and other health issues. I want to say how much I appreciate your candour about your issues and seriously we all have these feelings if we are in a palace or in a caravan. because we are all human and we all have unique circumstances. I try not to be envious of others because given my health issues I wouldn't fit into a chateau however nice that would be. Its a lovely dream but it can only ever be a dream. I have all of the internet to offer me glimpses into other lives and although I can only live vicariously through the experiences of others I am glad for them and they fill my days -and I follow along, watching them work and work and work . At the end of the day we are all like mayflies in the global context, we have our brief moment and then we are gone. Nothing matters so much that we should make ourselves more unhappy than we need to be. It would be nice if people were more kind and helpful I agree, but there is precious little of that in the world. You may feel like you aren't doing enough in the world but you are lighting up the lives of others you will never know and your sensitivity and self reflection is so admirable You are one of the good ones Phil. I see the goodness of heart in you :) PS I think you would get along very well with Brooke from @LivingintheLoire

I don't know you, and, perhaps, never will, but I feel, just a little bit, as a hetrosexual male, that I love you, because you are us, you are we, you are me, then take heart that, whatever you have achieved, or whatever you have not achieved really is kind of not important to the fact you are an inspiration and a guide for many who are yet to do or believe they can do what you can. Be safe and happy in the knowledge that, regardless of how you feel this very minute, which is personal and outside of your hands, there are a whole bunch of folk, me included, who feel pretty privileged that we know you via this channel and that you represent us, our weaknesses, our foibles, our strengths, etc. Whatever happens in life, you will never be alone, and, thanks to you, nor shall we. For that I thank you.

I sincerely hope you're feeling better now. There are times when we all get down. I certainly do. I find helping other people brings me great joy. A cousin of mine lost her brother recently. It was an aggressive cancer. She lives in the next state over so I just can't pick up and visit. So I did the next best thing: I mailed her a care package. She owns a horse so know she does a lot outside. I included a couple of bandanas, a tube of hand cream, some lip balm, and little back of candy. I also included a metal plaque with a girl riding fast on a horse with the words: Anything will kill you, make it something fun! I got a reply from her that it meant the world to her and was the nicest thing anyone had ever done for her! I cried tears of joy. This is what I'm all about. Sending you virtual hugs for giving me something beautiful to look at in your chateau and grounds. Hope your doggo is staying away from those swimming rat-gophers! 🤣🤗💚

Thank you Phil for your thoughts and words of encouragement. Today I had planned to do some more things outside, but ended up sitting outside with the birds and squirrels we feed. My health is declining and there is so much to look after when you live in an old property, but then I realized much of my plans won’t matter to others when I’m gone, so I just sat and enjoyed the sunshine, and furry friends. Hi Phil, believe it or not, this is the first video of your's that I've ever watched, came here from Ryan's channel. Maybe it was meant to be, because I can fully emphasize with you. I have MS and can't really walk anymore, am basically bed bound, but still try to do what I can. As my disease progressed, I started getting anxiety. My doctor told me that I live too much in my head, and he informed me that "stupid people never get anxiety ". He explained that intelligent and especially creative people suffer the most , and the best thing to do is get out of your head, and feelings. Put on your favorite music, or go listen to the birdsong, or play with your doggo.. As for the other challenges you're facing... Nutrinos/ beavers make awesome hats and slippers, muskrat make great sweaters, bamboo ( cut down) is brilliant for building things for the gardens, and makes the softest clothes and linens. If the sheep are that close to the cottage, teach them to make their own cheese! Maybe the cottage could be set up as a mini store, selling local products? Anyway, thanks for being so open and honest, mental health is vitally important and I commend your bravery. Best wishes from Vancouver Island Canada 🇨🇦 Pamela

Sometimes just taking a breath and re-evaluating is the most important thing you can do - for yourself.

Thank you Phil. Really appreciate your candor at the end of the video. And you sure 'walk your talk' as they say this side of the pond! It's more than 'camaraderie' you chateau owners share. It's real time love and real time support from members of your own 'tribe' so you speak. We Brits have long lived by the principle of having to keep a 'stiff upper lip'. You've demonstrated in very practical terms that that alone is not enough! At our low points we need to 'reach out' to ask for help.... Or 'step up' to offer that support.❤ Well said young man.... I'm sure there's so much that you are not saying, and that's ok. Some of us have had to pull through some very rough stuff, stuff that our own strength is not able to endure. But I must say that there is strength beyond our own when we reach out to God who loves us so much and has promised to give us the strength we need, just for the asking. I pray that this rough patch of your road will smooth out soon, and just want to thank you for reaching out to others and encourage them to keep on going, listen to the birds, smell the flowers, feel the warmth of the sun! Phil, it's so important for men to speak their truth and it takes a lot of courage to say that out loud to "strangers". We support you and everyone should reach out to the men in their lives to make sure they're doing OK when they seem a bit off. Thank you!

I appreciate your sharing. All is so true. People who care are "wired" differently. That is a beautiful thing which comes with great empathy and true understanding . God has blessed you!

Phil. You are warm, loving, talented person. We all have times in our life where we have a hard time coping. I’m not sure you are telling us everything and that’s ok. And telling us you are having a hard time is a first step. Help is only a phone call away. You have so much going on. Ask for help. I did. Just know we love you and know that you are maybe overwhelmed. Life has its moments. Take care of yourself first. Day at a time. And this is from an old lady that loves your videos and worries about you. Happy Easter! God loves you too. Amen. I’m done now. 😂

I believe if someone questions whether they are the best they can be, it means they are a very good person, full of all the good characteristics a human needs to be a peace with themselves and the world.

Phil that was a wonderful thing to do. We all need to step back and smell the roses at times, and remind ourselves we need to look out for ourselves, and be there for those that need us. Be a good listener, or just be there, for others. ❤

Phil, we all have times like this and that's okay. It is ok to not be ok and having a good support network around you is important but it's also good to have a little time on your own surrounded by nature and just be. I too am struggling with my back at the moment on top of my " normal " mobility/ disability issues but I made myself go out into the greenhouse sit on a stool and pot out a few seedlings, not much but I feel better for my few minutes with nature. Take care and remember we are all here for you just as much as you are there for us

Thank you, Phil, for expressing your thoughts so vulnerably as you shared today. It says everything about the man you are, that in the midst of your own struggles, you have genuine compassion and concern for others who are hurting/in need and take time to offer help and words of encouragement to them. Truly inspiring. You are on our hearts and in our prayers.

Well said. I am a support worker for a number of people here in Australia, it's a fun but very frustrating job and I have to remind myself a lot to realise that everyone has issues both large or small that to them are very important and overwhelming. They might not seem to bad to me, but it's not my place to judge. Life can throw up some absolute stinkers to you, but there are people around who can help, sometimes just a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on etc. Enough of my ramblings, hate to see you sad or unsure of things, but, life is sometimes a challenge, sit, reflect and appreciate, we are all lucky to still be alive

That was a message straight from the heart Phil. You truly are a wonderful, warm, kind hearted person who is always there to help his friends and family. You also try to help us, the people you do not know personally by speaking out about mental health. If your message has helped just one person then you have done a great job. Hope the back is feeling better now and you have a great Easter weekend. Take good care of yourself.

Phil thank you for opening up emotionaly what you shared not only got emotions out for you it helped others. I have had a rather crappy day taking care of my partner who has major mobility and health issues and was feeling very what's the point. You turned me around and motivated me to do a couple tasks before bed and start the day tomorrow with a better outlook. Thank you and I hope you are feeling better.

Phil, thank you for not only being so honest with your own wellbeing… but for having the strength and courage to remind us all to look after others as well as ourselves. Your heartfelt concern and offers of help to those less fortunate is truly an inspiration. Please know that this works both ways… if you are in need, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Was moved by your thought and heart felt talk...since my being widowed 7 years ago the days months and years of being alone have taken their toll...but for some reason Phil...your video helped me. Thank you and on this Easter I wish joy to reenter your life...you deserve it Phil.

Wonderful message, Phil. Hoping that you feel better very soon. We’ve all hit bumps along our journey and they are uncomfortable and usually temporary. Today was that day for me. Too many things on my to-do list creating too much stress when I should be enjoying my projects in retirement. I was overwhelmed and decided to step back. It was very difficult to say no, but I had to in order to stay physically and mentally healthy. Decided to cut back my to-dos and begin each day saying thank you for my blessings and returning to daily head clearing, fresh air walks. Feel better soon. We’ve all been there.
