You need a full time grounds keeper,so much work. Once you get the sides cleaned up it will be beautiful!

Phil, if you drain the moat it makes cleaning the banks much easier, then fill it back up!

Phil do you have that round wallpaper blade, it looks like a mouse and you roll it over the wallpaper and it scores the wallpaper so when you either put solution on it or steam it it gets behind the wallpaper

Are the giant rats a protected species? I'm the sort who would call the local pest control as I just couldn't take them damaging my place like that. Ugh.

Warm water with fabric softner. Use hand pump sprayer. Soak for 30 minutes. I did 12 rooms 12' ceilings. All types of papers. Scoring before spraying. Good luck.

After removing wallpaper from every room in my previous home, I’ve never put it up again. I got a projector and an adult coloring book and hand painted some designs.

I’ve seen you handle the overflow a lot of times and I’ve always wondered why you don’t fix a bridge out to the sluice instead of standing on the boat.

cute, but very destructive critters, around here(Oregon, USA), they are always trying to keep them out of the ponds and river banks. Have you got a friend/enemy you can ship them off to? ha ha

I feel your pain with the wallpaper stripping! Such a tedious job but the end results will be worth it. I have seen you clearing the sluice several times now and wonder why you don't cut back the branches that seem to hang over it? But maybe its just the camera angle.....

You really need to consider cutting down and removing all trees and bushes around the moat. You can plant again however you will never get rid of all the problems caused by the roots until you do this. It’s not the ideal situation but you bought all the problems when you took over the Chateau. It will grow back.

I thought you had the authorities deal with the coypu? I think if you cannot be rid of them I would sell if it were me. Poor Lightning :( If you knew what they eat maybe set up traps? Edd showed us a lovely property needing work no moat no water round have a look. I hope you have asked Sadie what it was she bought for her former convent apartment to rid her of the wallpaper.

Sorry, the only suggestion I can give about the wallpaper... put on some music, have a drink &/or cigar and just keep at it. I do have a suggestion for the colours in the room. When I think about designing something - I first decide on a colour that I like and look at what's beside that colour, or across from it on the wheel. I look at complimentary colours, opposite colours. Decide what level of colour light or darker and stick with those colours (what I mean by that is don't choose colours that are not in harmony with the colour) hope that make sense,. Usually, only 3 colours per room. Think of an imaginary triangle and see if those colours strike your fancy. It's all up to personal taste. But, I will say if you chose 3 colours they should be in harmony ie: the adjoining rooms can be done in the same colours but you can switch it up by making the main colour in the main room the 3rd or accent colour in the adjoining room next, and the 2nd colour in the first room can be the main colour in the 2nd room with the 3rd colour in the first room can be the accent or 2nd colour in the 2nd room. The internet has many ideas for colour combinations and concepts for using the colour wheel. It can also give you colour concepts. I hope I explained this in a way that is understandable and that this is helpful to you. If you are dead stuck pick something in the room that will have all the colours you would like in the room. Maybe the colour of the fireplace, a picture that will be in the room that you like or even a pillow cover or bedspread. I may be telling you what you already know but this has always worked for me even when I'm not inspired. Good luck room main room adjoining room 2nd adjoining main colour colour 1 colour 2 colour 3 secondary colour colour 2 colour 3 colour 1 accent colour colour 3 colour 1 colour 2 I'll be watching

Phil, here is my mental trick for handling tedious tasks [like stripping that nasty wallpaper]: I set the timer on my phone for 60 or 90 minutes, and when it goes off, Voila! Done for the day. Just do that every day. [And sometimes you'll feel like going longer.]

Your walk around the property was a beautiful reminder of just how gorgeous it is. Removing wallpaper reminds me how Billy worked on the kitchen at the convent, day after day plugging away, and eventually it was done. It will be the same for you and the d@mn wallpaper. ❤

I had vinyl wallpaper everywhere in the kitchen and the bathrooms when I bought a 20yr house which is fairly modern . The builders or 1st owners probably thought it was cheaper to wallpaper everywhere. But with the humidity of these rooms it was time consuming to remove. No particular tips except keep doing what you’re doing it’ll be worth it in the end 😘

Phil, I live in a very rainy Canadian city! We have catch basins everywhere and they get clogged with leaves constantly. Our city actually has a program where you can "adopt" a catch basin, and clear the leaves to prevent flooding. Not as cool as your moat though! I regularly go out and clear four or five. It's great exercise for this old lady! Those rodents are DEFINITELY a pain in the behind 😮😮

Animals in captivity escape on their own or did some unscrupulous breeder accidentally leave doors open so they wouldn't have to feed them because they were not profitable anymore as people stopped buying fur is the unasked question. If everyone who has the problem fed them contraceptive laced food in a few years the issue would solve itself humanely.
