@@supersimple1686 Not too bad. I ran an efficiency analysis on the prompt's capability allowing for what the AI could actually do (not what it said it could do, lol). Depending on amount of text, it looked to improve contextual/memory efficiency by 10 to 30%. I'm going to see if anything I had from that prompt can be parlayed into a GPT as mentioned in the above. Yes, I get they have this function, but it does not appear to be fully rolled out, and I wonder if what I had is similar or not. So, an experiment. Likely will give it a go after the weekend.

In my opinion, OpenAI needs to do some work on the search interface. I don't like that it doesn't show the description of each of the GPTs in the search results popup. The descriptions are especially important because OpenAI restricts what words you can use in your GPT name. So the name itself isn't always indicative of what it does.

You already have access to 120k context with GPT4-Turbo via Plus. The GPT 4-32k allows you to run prompts up to 32k tokens with the entire prompt in context. The 120k context uses various tricks to pay attention to the parts of the large prompt that it thinks are important to answer the question. I suspect it uses a form of RAG to distill your prompt into a context that is smaller than the 32k offered up and available via GPT-4-32k. So bottom line the GPT-4-32k should give you a more accurate and nuanced result if you fed it a 32k token prompt vs what GPT-4-Turbo would be able to do even though it has a 120k context.

Regarding lawsuit. The fact remains that not one person was consulted regarding all of the data scraped from the internet to train these models, full stop. There is just no way to deny that fact. Image generative models for instance should have from the beginning been an opt in process.

My experience with custom gpt's is that I have to ask it to "refer to your recent documentation" and then the custom gpt will finally say "analyzing data" and think for a bit, if you don't see that analyzing data thing then its not even using the custom gpt docs. It doesn't even use any custom stuff unless you specifically ask this!

Essentially, all copyright claims against GenAI are baseless. GenAI doesn't copy content, "any similarity to existing content is purely coincidental". And with AI it's not just a disclaimer. Even if you explicitly prompt for something that already exists, GenAI creates something genuinely new that is just similar. The very process of machine learning introduces so much randomness that you can't even claim it to be a derivative work. And even then, the content is created by the prompt, so it is the prompt that violates copyright, not the AI. And using publicly available knowledge for training (i.e. educational) purposes is fair use. But it is a good thing these frivolous lawsuits exist, so they can quickly be dismissed by the courts and provide legal clarity even for those people who don't understand how machine learning really works.
@conservingcommonsense4980

It would be like claiming copyright on someone seeing your work and taking inspiration from it. A cover song for example.
@MatthewCleere
@MatthewCleere 8 ай бұрын
"The very process of machine learning introduces so much randomness that you can't even claim it to be a derivative work" - I find this statement to be ridiculously confident for being so wrong. If the end product LOOKS like plagiarism, it is plagiarism. It doesn't matter what method was used to arrive at it, whether it be typing monkeys or a Gutenberg printer. Do not mistake process for product.
@trnogger
@trnogger 8 ай бұрын
@@MatthewCleere Plagiarism in law is defined as taking a person's original work and presenting it as your own. This is ALL about the process. If you can actually prove that you arrived at the same outcome without "taking the original work", then it is not plagiarism. Now with humans, it is almost impossible to proof, but in machine learning, you can clearly demonstrate there is no direct path from the original to the new work. (And by the way, plagiarism in itself is not even illegal.) With derivative work in copyright, you must a) demonstrate significant changes to the original work to claim a copyright of your own and b) can only claim the alterations. In machine learning, even if you perfectly recreate an existing work, the process of translating the original into training data, mixing that training data with other training data, randomizing it through deeply layered neural networks and then producing content from a prompt is so destructive that nothing of the original work remains and all is alteration, and again while this is almost impossible to proof for humans, it can be clearly demonstrated in machine learning. It is superficial understanding of plagiarism, copyright and machine learning like yours that causes these frivolous lawsuits.
