Thank you! My M7 sat for about a year, unplugged while I was dealing with family matters. Then about a year ago, I was finally able to start sewing on it again, but I noticed some things were different. I didn’t pay much mine to it until tonight. LoL. I’d been sewing on the original version this whole time. 🤣😂🤣 Thanks to you, I have installed the latest version. Thanks for all your wonderful videos!

I kept getting the ERROR! message to frustration. I was trying to download the software onto a USB stick that was 256MB. The stick was way too small in memory. I figured that out on my own :) I went to Office Max a bought a 32M USB (2/$12.00). I downloaded the software onto that stick. I still got the error message until I read the DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS in the software and followed them one step at a time. You must click "copy" to get the software on to the stick. It worked like a charm and only tool about 7 minutes. Thanks to Kim for the info and detailed instructions. Thanks to those who posted and offered their solutions.

First of all thank you so much Kim for all you do for us to educated . ❤ I have followed your video and updated my machine 2 of them btw. After the update my first machine screen go off total dark but the LCD lights were still On. Then I switched off the machine wait for a while switch On back but the machine totally dead. My dealer replaced new one. Soon after I updated the second machine its screen go to froze including all of the other buttons foot paddle scissor needle lock button non of them are responding then I turn off the machine On it back same thing the machine won't turn On. I turn the machine off waited over night turn On the machine it does the same thing. Is it possible that does issues caused by the update ? when I did the update it goes exactly same as in your video. Please answer me. Thanks

Sounds like you are having quite the issues! I'm not a Janome retailer or representative so my suggestion would be to contact your dealer again to try to get this sorted out. One thing to check is that your machine is either plugged into a surge protector to protect from any electrical surges that can happen (brownouts, thunderstorms, etc.).

My dealer also don't know why his technician has no knowdlge too. They are willing to replace new one which is the 3rd machine. But I am doubting my choice and don't know how to say No to the 3rd machine 🥺 this is my first experience with janome.!

Wow, that is disappointing for sure and I can assure you that this is not typically what happens with a Janome machine. You might want to ask the dealer for a refund at this point due to all of the issues that they can't identify. It's great that they are replacing the machine but how many will it take? If they could identify the problem, it could be resolved and you could be sure that this wouldn't happen again but as it keeps happening and they can't identify what is causing it, you might want to ask for a refund (depending on how long you've had the machine). Hopefully they can get this figured out and you'll be on your way again.

@@Chatterboxquilts I just got a call from the dealer they have been testing on the new replacement machine and he said the machine was fine. So he assumed it is an electrical issue which mean my house electric had problem or even worse I might not be able to use this type of machine at my house due to the electic! for me thats nonsense . If it is the electrical at my house I wouldn't be able to use any thing needs to plugged into electric right? my PC refrigerator tv etc. The electric surge protector shows very stabil wave of electric tho. I don't know what they aiming . Even the machine they want to bring is new or already serviced! its been crazy dilemma and frustration for me. I purchased it in the beginning of may but haven't been able to sew either of the machine they replaced.

I am trying to find a video on how to MEMORIZE a stitch pattern with the M7 ... looked on the DVD that came with the machine but I wanted more information... Do you have a video on this machine technique?

I don't have one for the M7. Have you checked in the manual? In my manual, information about creating stitch patterns starts on page 81 and you get more details on page 95 as to saving what you've created so you might find these sections helpful.

I believe that you should be able to go straight to version 2.0 but I would check with your Janome retailer just to confirm.

Hi, I appreciate your videos as I am getting to know my M7. Can you suggest what I should do? I am trying to update to version 2.0 and I even bought a simple flash drive (instead of my encrypted one) and I formatted it and downloaded the appropriate things folders on my PC. I was never able to find the exe ending though. In any case. I got an error message although the screen did turn yellow

Sorry that you're having issues updating your M7. I'm a Mac girl so I'm not able to help much more than what was in the video as far as PC information. The .exe file should be available when you download the .zip file and there are instructions on how to "open" the files in the .zip folder on the Janome Global website at www7.janome.co.jp/global/machineupdate/continental-m7-professional-update-to-version-2-00/. If you're still having problems, your local Janome dealer should be able to help you - and I know that some of them will even update the machine if you purchased it there.

I've used a variety of sizes and brands so I don't think that is as important as making sure that there are only the appropriate files on the USB stick.

There can be a variety of reasons why this occurred. First, try another USB stick. Second, make sure only the appropriate file is on the USB stick - if there are other files on it, the system gets confused and it won't work. if you try both of these and are still having issues, I would check with your local Janome retailer for additional help. (I'm not a Janome rep or retailer).

I must be an idiot because I followed the MAC directions but when I try to upload them to my M7 I keep getting the yellow screen with ERROR across it. Is there something I missed?

Make sure that you only have the five files from the PROG file - not the entire file folder - on the USB stick. You need to open up all the files until you find the PROG file, open it, and then drag the files out of it and onto the USB stick. If you have the other files from the update folders on the USB stick you will get an error. If you pull only those 5 files over and still get an error, I would try another USB stick (or reformat the one you are using) and try again. Hope this works for you.

You might have to try another USB stick. If you are a Mac user, you need to only transfer over the 5 files in the PROG folder, not the whole folder itself. If these suggestions don't help, you might have to contact your local Janome retailer to get additional help - they may even update the machine for you. Hope it works for you.
