Dainty Diaries, you're right, boys are not offended by tea cups. My Mom once told me she decided to redo her master bedroom decor to something without frills, and decidedly more masculine in tone. To her surprise, my Dad didn't like it. He liked her lacy curtains and pink bedspreads, so she changed it back. One of my favourite things about you is how unapologetically feminine you are. Don't let anybody make you feel bad about it. You're a ray of sunshine and your little house is lovely.

I absolutely love your home and I absolutely love the idea of recycling thifted or free pieces. I like older solid pieces of furniture, not always a fan of modern, quick fix furniture. At the age of 58 I am starting again in life, very scary, but looking forward to it. I will be thrifting and upcycling for the first time and I can’t wait. Had to smile when you mentioned that your niece plays with your tea cups. I had a display cabinet that had my vintage , crystal items in. My son when he was small was never allowed to touch what was in it in case he broke something, now he can't understand why I allow my grand daughter to play with the stuff in it.😁😄. My attitude is now if it breaks it breaks, its only stuff. 🙂😁

Oh YES, I love tea pots and tea cups and collect them. Over the years I've repainted every room in the house as well as the downstairs basement (turned into a den with a gas fireplace which I sanded and stained) ....so cozy!

When we had carpet, we installed Berber carpet. Also, in our boys' rooms, I actually had them install in "industrial" carpet that had gorgeous colors in it. It is now 24 years old and still looks brand new. We put a very thick pad under it, and it was the best decision we ever made!

It has been so much fun watching you do everything that you’ve done to your home. It is beautiful! I’m not sure when this term evolved or came on the scene, but I think it describes your house best...it is COTTAGECORE. It is a beautiful mixture of comfort, roses, teapots, beautiful china, flowers, lovely comfortable furnishings, and calming colors. I hope that gives you an idea. LOL You can definitely find it on line. But it doesn’t really matter what your style is called; rest assured your home is gorgeous! If you’re thinking of replacing your stair runner with a jute type carpet I would advise against it. They are impossible to keep clean and will discolour once they get wet. They make a great scratching surface for the cats though. 😊

I love your house and your attitude. I also need lots of light in my home to feel happy. I have many relatives who cover their windows with heavy treatments and never look outside except when they leave the house. How depressing! Your house is pink and feminine and beautiful. Don't ever change it for someone else. I don't like labels either. I have no idea what my house style would be labeled as. I have blue and white pottery, a collection of white soup tureens, many mirrors, lots of copper molds on the wall and sitting proudly on one of my bookcase shelves I have a 2 foot leather covered moose. It's my happy place.

Oh god the lilac, this house when we moved in had hideous dark pink and lilac contrasting walls in the hallway and upstairs landing..I immediately went out and bought a nice muted sagey green paint to bring the peace and threw that around the walls 🤣 ok back to watching again
