Just LOVE your attitude Chaunce! Great start to what I am sure will be a fantastic Thru-Hike of the Appalachian Trail. Can't wait for your next installment ...

Chaunce, you are really trucking! I hope that you can enjoy the AT as much as first-timers considering you did the PCT last year. I do believe that the order is normally the AT followed by the PCT. The PCT is full of the huge mountains and specular views. The AT has its own mystique just not so spectacular. Be safe and enjoy.

Good luck , and don't worry about makeup. It will be hard keeping your hands and makeup clean enough on the trail, easy to contaminate .you don't want an eye infection on the trail. You are doing great, far younger than me but I worry your miles are high for starting off. Stay warm!

Wow, what a start. I have watched a guy starting the PCT in early Feb, its now March 20th and we have thunder storms and snow above 5K. Don't worry about the massacre, nothing can hide your beautiful green eyes. Good Luck and I will follow along. Your personalization (not a word) in your video has come a long way from the PCT and CT. Keep it up.

Hey Chaunce, great vid, take care in the cold, I try to spread a TIP on cold and fogie nights, If you get up for a nature call, Dont loose sight of your tent, a few years ago a girl almost did not make it as she could not find here tent, It was cold, she did find the trail and hiked miles back to a hostel. They let her in as she banged on the door. Called her parents and they took her home. She could have died as she was in bed clothes if she had not found sherter. Dave

Sounds like the story of my wind pants. Sat down and then got up and took them off. Somehow ripped three tiny holes in them. Some tape to both sides and they are all good to go. Also on the same trip but one day previous I jumped across a stream so I wouldn’t get wet and the good news is that I made the jump but the bad news is that my pants didn’t make it. Yup, massive rip. By the time the three day trip ended back at the cars I had a rip running from my belt down to the zipper on the zip off pants and it was all right around my front pants zipper. I had a lot of air venting on that trip

Luck of the draw for weather in North Georgia this time of year. Crushing the mile out of the gate. Don't worry, they probably have a wide selection of mascara at Mountain Crossings.
@0zthehikingsailor5 жыл бұрын
If I may ask how many layers were you wearing from hawk to Gooch? I encountered them too kneeling in the ready position right across the AT path. I froze and asked permission to cross but thumper just rolled on thru them. A capt stopped me and I said I was sorry if we disturbed them but they were right on the AT path....

Is your own tent more comfortable than a shelter? I slept in a shelter once in the Smokies and was kept awake by the mice scrambling all over... yuk. BTW yep that would have been weird to see the outback camo dudes in your predicament. The bears don't bother - but those camo dudes, who knows. Can you build a fire to stay warm at any point?

Ok Chauncey your sleep system should be warm enough to stop hiking so far so early. Stop put on another layer immediately then get in your sleeping bag if you can get in the shelter. Love you mean it
