The one thing I don't think ppl have appreciated about JJ Redick is that he didn't just go home and vacation after retiring. He didn't detach from the game. He became even more obsessed with it. He studied it even more. He involved himself. His podcasts act as a sort of film room. He was a broadcaster, watching these games. He may not have coaching experience, but he's been as involved with the game as anyone not currently in the NBA. I believe in him.

The last few Lakers coaches showed so little ability to adapt to what the opposing team was doing on the court and Ham was one of the worst. Yea I like this move more than some. The Lakers front office has to empower JJ and give him the right staff and team for him to make the most out of. But JJ is able to handle the media scrutiny and everything else that comes with it. He is the first line of defense so to speak in protecting the Lakers brand. The one ask I personally have of JJ is, don't be stubborn! Need for him to be able to make adjustments when things aren't working. Felt like Ham was stuck on doing things a certain way, even when it was clearly hurting the team. That all said, it doesn't matter what JJ does as a coach if the roster is weak. The next 1-2 months is SO important. They have got to add more shooting and big men. If not it's hard to imagine the Lakers can be significantly better than they were last year.
