Nice Video. I had a 16 Quartz Blue Metallic and upgraded my fog lights also. I also changed every interior bulb to LED. I never liked halogen headlights after having HID's for fourteen years in Acura's so when I heard about the 18 Crosstrek with steering responsive led headlights, I ordered one. Going to keep the 18 for a while, interior lights are led's, had a upgrade some of them, they all didn't come led. The fog lights on an 18 Limited or bad, only 19 watts. Upgrading to yellow, wanted functional fog lights too, and I only use my fog lights when it is dark and rainy, snow, fog, etc. Believe or not, the center console is actually smaller then the previous generation Crosstrek. I'm going to put in a K & N air filter, and look at other mods down the road. After all years K & N has been around, magazine tested with several vehicles, and found out each one got 3-4 more hp. In a Crosstrek, every little bit helps.

Did the yellow fog lights fit good?
@dudedude89313 жыл бұрын
Can the 2018 crosstrek's fogs be replaced in this same way? I watched a video where the dude took the entire front bumper off to get to the lights. your approach is obviously much simpler and doesnt risk the bumper being damaged when you're taking it off.

Easy to pull the fogs and replace from behind ... no big deal

Do the fog lights fit good? Is there any gaps from the lens to the Plastic hole They fit in? I want to do the upgrade myself.
@metaspencer6 жыл бұрын
The fit of the fog lights is perfectly snug and tight. Note that you need to increase the size of one hole on the light housing body before installation. Other than that, it's a simple switch. I like the look of the yellow a lot, even if they don't add a lot in terms of visibility ... since the other lights have to be on at the same time.
@chriswr88136 жыл бұрын
metaspencer totally I like the yellow as well. It goes good with the headlights and lots of subie fans go yellow. Better in the snow, fog and rain that’s for sure. So when you said you need to increase the hole size is that on the body of the fog light or the car housing
@metaspencer6 жыл бұрын
I think I show this step in my video ... it's on the fog light itself, not the car. The manufacturer of the light just has a hole that is a bit small and easy to enlarge
@chriswr88136 жыл бұрын
metaspencer It didn’t show that step on the video but I know what you mean now. Thanks! I’m gonna do the same thing with mine. I was thinking about getting a psx24w Led yellow kit but would rather this. I changed the signal/side marker/brake/reverse/drl lights to Sylvania Zevo Led bulbs(amber) and they look so good! Just in case you or anyone else is wondering about Sylvania Zevo LED’s.

I realize the crosstek is high, but using ramps would give you another 8-9 inches to work with under the front of the car. Winjet makes a decent H11 fog kit, but if you want better (yellow) lights, sadly, you have to pay to play...
@metaspencer2 жыл бұрын
I had to replace those yellow bulbs recently -- they should have lasted longer for sure. The new ones may be better. Great tip on the ramps -- I should definitely get some as the crawling is getting old. Thanks man

Maybe I got a bad console tray (from AMZ)? The one I got does not fit my regular-size iPhone when it was plugged in. Worse, the tray constantly got dislodged and fell into the console.

Oh man, that's a bummer. My tray fits the iPhone 6 just fine, but I'm not sure about the other sizes and models.

I always like Subaru's cylinder orientation for their engines . Very neat so do the yellow lights really help in fog ? It's always so hot I n Georgia we don't see fog often . Take care man
@metaspencer7 жыл бұрын
the light quality of the yellow fogs is AWESOME, but the problem is that the darn car (FED regulations, I think) has the fogs wired to the headlights. So you can only run the fogs with the white headlights on, defeating the purpose of the fogs. So I'll have to find a wiring hack to separate the two circuits. Another day. Good to hear from ya!
@jrgreen4265 жыл бұрын
@@metaspencer did you ever find a fog light hack? Would love true on the car for fog/snow. Thanks

I personally dislike taking a half a$$'ed approach to long term auto repairs. Your car was hit by another car with significant enough force to do visible body damage. I question your ability to completely diagnose all of the damage and your ability to do a complete repair. I've been involved in 3 hit and run collisions in my lifetime; two were significant body damages and 1 was minor as yours appears to possibly be. I don't consider myself lazy but, we all carry underinsured/uninsured/and comprehensive insurance coverage. I let a professional body shop repair the damage. In my 3 hit and run experiences, my major named insurance company's policy is they cover hit and runs under comprehensive damage. I have a zero dollar deductible on comprehensive coverage and I'd bet you do too; it's too cheap not to. I too currently drive a Crosstrek which was hit by one of the hit and run incidents. On all three incidents over the years, my cars were repaired by professional body shops at no cost to me because of my zero comp deductible and by law, my insurance rates can't be raised from comprehensive claims.

@@metaspencer My 2019 Crosstrek is my first Subaru and for around town it's a great grocery getter. I bought her new in July 2019. On the road however after a couple of hours the seats turn to concrete blocks. Bad seats aren't con's I read about the car when I was shopping. I've made some bolt on and stick on mini cosmetic exterior and interior upgrades but overall I like her and I don't plan to ever get rid of her. Her name is "The White Shadow". I've always named my vehicles. I think it's a generation thing. I'm 72 and people don't name vehicles anymore. Good video for the unskilled. Keep up the good work sir.

@@SKYKOP1972 We have two of them now and the newer one has a bit more gear range with the manual 6 speed. Definitely a good grocery getter, especially in the snow!
