In this video we are installing a different version of the first stabilizer we put on this 10 foot Jon Boat. There is some bonus fishing footage using the GA Boy Lures “Swamp Spider” at the end.

Now that's a bream!!! Wow. I've caught crappy that big but never caught a bream like that. Enjoyed this one. I'll grab me a few of those lures!

@PSBEadventures The white spider is the only one I have put in the water. I’m going to have to put that chartreuse/pink to the test now though.👍🏻

I remember back in the seventies or eighties a small boat company had those side stabilizers. Think it was Coleman canoe and Scanoe boat. They were made of ram x plastic and stabilizers were solid foam. Closed cell foam. GREAT IDEA!!! I think I’ll put them on a canoe👍 Always were a PFD if your an older fella like myself it’s your best protection from drowning.

@@gillgetter3004 That’s interesting, I didn’t know an American company made these back in the day. I knew the Australians are making them now called Captain Boat Collar. Thank you for the information and the advice. Just as important, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

Good bit of fishing at the end, first time i have seen floats on a boat well actually it is the second the first was a video you made quite a while back i was looking through your videos trying to spot part two and found this one,when i look at how they function you have to rock the boat pretty good before they even touch the water, the angle of the boat is sprtty steep when they touch, wouldn't it be better if you were to lower the flats like 4 inches closer to the water? that way they would function earlier and there would be less initial tilt being more stable quicker?

@@diggindiggenit6540 You are absolutely correct about what you are saying. The idea of putting them up higher was to get the best of both worlds. Little to no drag when using an outboard motor and then having the extra stability when absolutely necessary. Would definitely be more effective sooner with them mounted below that rib. Thank you for your interaction.

The spray foam is like pour foam it sucks up water and retains it. It’s like foam in big boats. The blue or pink foam won’t retain moisture and is more buoyant than pour foam or spray foam is.

@@BrokeBackBob4559 That was my suspicion, thanks for confirming that. I appreciate your input. I have heard of Boston Whalers and Carolina Skif’s foam getting water logged over time.

@@wisdomandthewoods7422 I have a Lund Alaskan 1600 and it had pour foam in it when I bought it and it was water logged so I replaced it with the pink foam and now my boat is always about 600 pounds lighter

Instead of spray foam you can use pour in foam it's alot easier. Your holes are easily patched being on top of the gutter

I'd lower both of them about 3-4 inches then they would stop the tipping earlier , touching the water when the boat is loaded the way you normally use it.
@wisdomandthewoods7422
@wisdomandthewoods7422 Ай бұрын
@@huntsmart4850 I may make another video doing it that way. This way just keeps them out of the water to keep them from ploughing through the water if I want to use a motor on it. You are 💯 correct though. Thanks for the comment.

Maybe you could just shove some pool noodles in there. Cheaper and easier.

@@jonnathankirby3810 That is an interesting idea. I wonder if one of the larger pool noodles could be forced to fit into that size down spout. That could very well work. Thank you for the comment.

The ends are not underwater so technically what’s it’s filled with shouldn’t make a difference if water isn’t getting in the downspout.
