If you want to skip to the tool and material list and DIY router table, skip to 2:08. If you just want to jump right into the process of making the scales, you can skip right to 3:12. Hit the "thumbs up if you appreciate the time savings. Thanks for watching!

this was very helpful video, it never dawned on me to fasten the existing scale to the raw piece of the new scale to match the correct shape of the liner, however you didnt cover the captive pivot part unless i missed it. still, learned a lot from this video. thank you

You liked that router part bro 😂😂😂😂. I know routers can be tricky but you got it done and now will be better next time . Good vid .

Yeah you really can't get too aggressive with that router bit. I still have all fingers to do the next one though!

You did a good job . It’s hard to duplicate exactly and takes time and patience
@jamesbarisitz47942 жыл бұрын
Like the plexiglass router. Put a bit cover guard halfway over the bit. Just a 2×2 dropped over and clamped. It'll stop the work piece from pulling your hand into the bit if it catches. Make a clearance tunnel for the bit on the bottom face. 👍

Awesome . I m into this . Just had to make a seat for a civivi titanium pocket clip for a praxis , screws were a little short so I scored an outline and scraped it out with the back of a utility knife and then scored again for a good look . Looks awesome . Now to try making some scales . One step at a time

I sure did like the video and very nice what you did. Are you open to make scales to buy?
@TheJourneyYoutube2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I'm currently busy with other projects and I'm not offering scales to buy, but thank you for asking.

Heads up. The diy router table is fine for something this small and I'm sure you already know but this should not be used for anything else even a cutting board, and make sure to clamp as close as is possible so there isn't enough leverage to break the pexi. Awesome video tho!

Did you put a civivi titanium clip on there
@TheJourneyYoutube2 жыл бұрын
Nope. Just the stock deep carry clip. Sure looks like beablasted Ti though, doesn't it?

How did you get the carbon scales back off the wood after super gluing on?
@TheJourneyYoutube3 жыл бұрын
I just slipped a putty knife between the two and they popped right off. You can sand the glue off of the wood scales. Use a solvent and/ or light sanding to remove the glue from the original scales if you want, just make sure to test an inconspicuous spot to make sure the solvent doesn't damage the original scale material.

Show more of your work and narrate it. We barely saw your work; most of this video was watching you talk. With that said, nice mod and keep up the good work.

Do you still remember the diameter of the holes and the countersinked parts?
@TheJourneyYoutube3 жыл бұрын
I don't remember, sorry. I just measured the thread and head diameter with calipers and used the closest drill bit size I could find.

@@TheJourneyKZbin Nice! Also what did you do for the little notch in the scales for the pivot?

Do you know anybody or any shop that can make scales for my knife?
@TheJourneyYoutube2 жыл бұрын
Flytanium is a good option for many of the more popular knife models. You can find a lot of smaller vendors on Etsy or you can buy from peers on the blade forums.
