Laura is that rare gem of a person who has a thoroughly positive attitude about everything that she does or learns how to do. You can't teach anyone how to have that attitude, but people who have that attitude can learn and do anything. Her smile goes all the way through. She just sparkles.

Laura is a good truck driver but she does not need to let her tractor be a coasting out of gear that is against DOT rules and regulations I'm just trying to help her out never let your tractor and trailer coast that could get you in trouble not trying to be nosy but I went through training for this and if what he got caught doing that we would have been failed on the spot and had to come back and took the whole course of learning how to drive a tractor trailer again in the state of Alabama where I live and then I went to Georgia and same thing you have certain ways you're supposed to step up in that truck and some companies if they catch you not doing it they that's automatically thing that they will dismiss you on just trying to help you out never let your tractor trailer coast it don't matter how fast you're driving because you don't know what could happen

I have 20 years of trucking experience, the reason why the trailer brake was not working correctly was because you had the hand brake engaged. I would not recommend using the hand brakes unless you are having an emergency. But you are definitely doing a great job. Wishing y’all a wonderful and prosperous year! Love watching your videos.

I agree w-hacksaw on your problem with your trailer brakes popping out when you release your brakes. Your hand brake should have a release that returns the handle to the released setting, I would suggest that you learn how and when to use the hand valve properly. if you use the hand valve by itself you are using the trailer brakes only to stop your vehicle, which means if you do it long enough your brakes wear out prematurely on the trailer, now when you use your foot pedal to stop your brakes may have uneven breaking with the tractor doing more breaking than the trailer. tell Grant or you may call me and I can explain it better if you like

So cool. It’s fun to see someone so excited over things that I viewed as so mundane 40 years ago. Who knew there were remotes and batteries for grain trailers? 😂 We cranked tarps and traps by hand. I wasn’t lucky enough to drive a Pete. I was stuck with an International 4300 Transtar with a single sleeper, which came in handy for grain runs to the Mississippi and Illinois river terminals. You’ve got the floating gears thing down. You’re doing a great job. Keep at it. Subscribed in WI

It's neat to get the hang of driving the truck by only using to clutch when you stop and start. It takes a bit to get the hang of matching the revs on the engine and trans so that the trans more of less fall out of and into gears, it more or less literally pulls out of gear and pulls into gear. It takes smoothness. And it is neat. The wear and tear of the whole truck is very low. From the sounds of things you're getting a real good hand on shifting gears.

Laura, it is great to see you, and Grant, working your own farm. It is also good to see that you are acquiring some reasonable farm equipment to help you do your work. That is a good-looking truck and trailer that you have, and it is good to see you driving the semi. Please allow me to give you this tip: ALWAYS USE THE CLUTCH TO SHIFT. You will grind far fewer gears that way. That saves expensive transmission repairs and prolongs the life of the truck.

As a professional driver for 30 years, a couple of tips. Never use the Jake break when empty. It puts excessive pressure on exhaust manifold gaskets. Check the rubber grommets at your airlines. Make sure they are good and seal tight. Never use the hand trailer brake to park. There is no need to pull it down when the supply lines are pulled. For your first time to the elevator, you did awesome. Even got the floating of gears down! Way to go!!!!

Drove truck over half my life (age 58 now). You did good! Some things you'll want to remember though,, #1 behind the wheel of that truck, you need to ALWAYS be on high alert! As Johnny law and thee D.O.T. see it,, as a CDL holder you are automatically 50% at fault of any traffic accident you're involved in,,(you're cause or not). Other than that 1 pointer as a driver, take care in offloading weight too quickly from air ride suspension. If it doesn't relieve air quick enough, it can pull the ride height control linkage apart and cause a minor breakdown that's an annoying and valuable time consuming repair. Just don't relax too soon Dear that truck is a 40 ton car crusher! Don't let yourself forget that and you'll be just fine. Love your videos, and it brightens my day to see your spice for life.

BY FAR, my favorite LauraFarms video ever! Got to hear Jake brakes twice, see a hot girl learning to drive a bad ass truck, watching the corn pour in and out of the trailer, watching the train at the crossing... All the fun stuff about farming that's not in the fields, and even some funny sexual innuendos at the end for all the dirty-minded b@stards out there. 😂 Also loved when Laura said she'd hate for corn to start going everywhere if she forgot to close the hopper bottoms on the trailer. I was like "yeah that makes a mess, ask Zach (MillennialFarmer) about that! Pretty sure he did that a few videos ago." 😂 btw, get ready to replace those bearings in a year or 2 on the hopper bottoms on the trailer. They go quick with all the dust. Keep a full trailer set on hand at all times, you never know. Great video Laura and Grant, love yall's channel, and can't wait to see yall grow your farm together, and I look forward to many more amazing videos like this one. Best of luck with planting 2023! Well I'm only a beginner. Fare from being a professional but over the last 44 years I have learned a few things. #1. use your engine brake, ( Jacobs Break) whenever you want. I has nothing to do with exaust gaskets or exaust pressure. #2. As a general practice, don't set your trainer park break unless your on a up hill or down hill grade. And never in freezing weather. When you set your trailer breaks your dumping the air going to the break pods so upon releasing the trailer breaks its going to take a few seconds to build the air back up to the break pods. Nothing wrong with your breaks. Just another thing to learn. And I must say, your doing a fantastic job. It takes a while, but remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. Proud of you and your husband.

Hi Laura. My name is Tom and I am 43 years old, I was born and lived in Ukraine until I was 21. At the moment I have been living in Russia for more than 20 years. In Ukraine, I have 28 acres of land that my brother is engaged in. This year he sowed a sunflower. Being a farmer is hard work. It's very interesting to watch your videos.

I really like the truck and trailer setup. The trailer was well worth the price. It nice to have a good truck to learn on. Some can be very interesting to say the least. I drove a mack that we were not getting along. That made for a long day. Great job! Nice to see things come together. Sometimes it worth the wait and hard work.

I never pull the trailer brake handle down like u apparently did when u had parked.. u had to hold in the yellow button to release your Truck brake..so do not use the long trailer brake handle when parking then when u push in yellow button u will not have to hold it in for moment.. the only time I use trailer brake handle is check trl brakes to be sure they r working or to double check 5th wheel after hooking up to trailer.. love your channel, I miss the ranch life, last 3 winters I’ve been hauling sugar beets to the factory👏🙂👍
