Just realized, Sean is an "auditory thinker" . His eyes cut sharply to the left when listens to how a guitar sounds. He's comparing 'sounds of guitars past' to the one he's playing. Auditories make excellent musicians. They can hear and connect with sounds others do not hear/understand.

Sean, I'm listening to the sound demo even as I type, and I can tell you right now that that LyxPro is no student guitar anymore (as if it ever was!). No, NOW it's a full-on travel guitar! You've got me thinking about trying to rescue a mini guitar that I got for the purpose of travel, but it's scale length is too short and it needs strings too thick to be useful to me. I have another travel guitar, so I don't NEED this guy anymore, really. Still, I might like to keep it if I could get it rescaled. I'd settle for 24.75 inches. I might PREFER the 25.5 inch Strat scale length, but I'm not married to it. My woodworking skills really suck, though.
@edwinstovall3334 Жыл бұрын
For a while now, Sean, I've been saying that it's not that easy anymore to come up with an actually BAD-sounding cheap pickup these days -- but that LyxPro proves that it's still possible!
@weedian710 Жыл бұрын
Appreciate all the cool videos here lately! My buddy has a similar 30” Amazon kids guitar. It’s branded BY, I think. He got it years ago. I think LyxPro is selling them now with an amp for $50. It’s a black double cut with a single strat pickup. It actually plays really well other than a couple mildly high frets. I’ve been thinking about trying to make a humbucker, 2 point trem, and locking tuners work on one.

I made a mini-tele ,from a neck from a Burswood (& bridge),...I made the body from Jarrah ,scratch plate from aluminum checker plate ,stainless control panel...single coil in the neck and humbucker in the bridge....and it Fing screams!!!! ...and it sounds like a tele....

Only other thing I would do is change the neck nut with graphite or bone maybe. Actually, been doing same type stuff to cheap guitars, but you’re advancing better than me cause I like to overthink it. So, my friend your inspiration to me. Like your common sense approach to it.

To make the neck sit flat in the pocket - THE SCREW HOLES IN THE BODY MUST BE BIGGER THAN THE SCREWS! Else the screws are threading into the body AND/THEN the neck. You only want the screws pulling the NECK to the pocket. I have to drill the holes bigger in the body all the time.

Interesting take on the modifications especially since the routing was bad. I modified a Lyxpro 30 but I used Guitarfetish parts for the locking tuners and installed lil killer humbuckers with a coil spitter on a video I did called "Pimp My Telecaster". I do like the small size and light weight of the guitar. I replaced the bridge so did not have too much problem with the intonation and I go lucky on the frets and the neck did not have to be shimmed.

Doesn't a shim leave a void between the neck and the body? Seeing that you know your way around a router, wouldn't it be better to route the neck pocket to a propper angle thus making a morebetter connection between the body and the neck? On the other hand, this channel focuses on showing how to repair guitars in a cheap and easy way, so more power to you. The guitar turned out good. Cheers.

Hey Sean, i was wondering because I really like the bridge you bought here and I suppose it is top loaded as I didnt see any string holes on the back of the body, as every tele bridge with 6 saddles I seem to run into on the internet is a string thru body setup and I really don't want to drill holes into my body so can you please tell me where you found this bridge that accepts top load and string thru bridge and also how a top loaded tele bridge works with a 6 saddle system as I have never seen it done as do the strings go thru the back of the bridge and the underneath the saddle and back up thru the middle and over the top of the saddle closest to the neck? This might sound stupid but I want this exact setup on my fullsize tele and trying to figure out exactly how you strung ot thru the 6 saddle bridge while top loaded
