A lot of fuels have that "stinky" smell added to them so we don't die from explosions. Most fuels don't smell much.

how about fuel consumption? here in cold country winter times -25 celsius is quite normal and i have problems with e85 because heat is so much less than if diesel using. Consumption is too littlebit high because alltime full power usage but no much heat. But i have tested it with water heater.

My heater didn't work with any settings well with 22ml standart pump, I tested 2. I bought 28ml pump to match energy difference of E85 and Gas/Diesel and put very short pipe between pump and burnchamber and now it's working perfectly with "diesel" settings and I get warmer burn than ever and zero CO out of exhaust with every power level setting.

In the winter I run a 70/30 mix of used filtered veggie oil and diesel fuel to keep it from gelling up. Runs great, smells slightly of French fries. My neighbor has a big fish fryer and gives me his old oil. I plan to run straight diesel in it every so often to help prevent coking. Maybe it will work maybe it won't lol we'll see

I had a Chevrolet which was a dual fuel vehicle....E85 OR regular gas. Whenever I used E85, my fuel pump made noise and failed quickly.

I used last winter diesel heater with E85 without any adjusting it was the metal frame modell with 5L tank on top it worked ok until this winter when I started to "cook" my own fuel with waste oil. Veg oil or ordinary motor oil don't mix with E85 I used Kerosine as additive and got well flowing mixture. Methanol and Ethanol needs a special oils to mix. Eventually heater stopped working which may be because I put longer exhaust pipe to it and I think condensation blocked it partly in cold space. E85 is good fuel if You have to fill tanks from jerry cans and spills are going to happen, not so flammable as gasoline and don't smell in hands etc. for ever. It has less energy and makes lot of water when burning but has many nice qualitys. I have somewhere Red line Methanol lubricant but I have not used it yet. I made a new version of metal frame heater from old PC case with 10L tank bolted on side it is behaving very odly it don't work if fuel pump out port isn't pointing down, it makes a lot of bubles to the fuel line when installed correctly. It flames out and only today I got it working with totally wrong way pointing pump, maybe E85 is cavitating a lot or there is something wrong with the pump. No bubbles between tank and pump and a lot of them between burner and pump.

I use an E85 additive called "Top Lube" and it adds lubricity to the E85. That might help the fuel pump work better. It quiets down the fuel injectors in my vehicles.

There are many different E85 lubricants now my Redline is NOS from time when only alcohol for engines was Methanol outside Brazil. I can't find good settings for the heater as it cuts out very easily if bubble wanders in burner, I think that burn chamber cools down very easily and controller thinks it's flame out and stops fuel pump. Ethanol has lower energy and cools down thinks very well when it evaporates so heater is on edge all the time. Many different fuel pumps on shipping to me but still taking time. Very cold here up to or down to? -32 C (-25 F) electric is expensive and kind of bad feather to cut wood. I really would like to use E85/ RE85 as it is made from biowaste and I have found quit cheap source of it as demand have to be low as Flexfuel cars should use ordinary gas when it's so cold. Too cold also to install outside real Webasto bus/truck water heater with heated spray nozzle and 10bar/145 Psi fuel pump like central heating oil stowes which would burn waste oil with smile. Waste oil in these air heaters and also water heaters which have to turn fuel to gas is semi bad idea as oil has additives, metals and free carbon which don't burn in these low temperatures. Last winter I did burn stainless steel when I modded burn chamber of very badly copied or designed chinese pellet stowe.😄

Ethanol smell must depend on the station and batch- I bought some e85 to try in my lantern and it was one of the nastiest, most nausiating liquids I have ever smelled. Worse than vomit. It was very hard to wash off, stuck me for hours despite washing.

People I've seen the lifespan in short running on gasoline! I would recommend buying parrifin it doesn't stink and cut it 50 50 ethanol and parrifin the heater will last longer! They make specific heaters that are similar that are designed for gasoline that will run ethanol! David mcluckie youtuber showed a melted burn chamber running gasoline ethanol is a little cooler but still questionable!

Awesome job! I have some of the same complaints you to with diesel. I am seriously considering over to e85 as well. Could you please please please give us an update. Such as how to pump is holding up, is it still working, any error codes, or other issues?

You can try adding some 2-stroke oil at 1:100 ratio. That should add plenty of lubrication additives.

E85 don't mix with veg oil at least in room temperature I tested clean oils.

@@MrTopgun21 Crack it open I bet you the combustion chamber says 5 kW on it ! I’ve been using these heaters for several years I own more than three of them and weren’t everything about them the hard way! The only problem is I’ve ever had with these Chinese heaters the combustion chamber only last about 2-3 years And the electric motors that come in them are very cheap but you can buy replacement aftermarket very cheap that are able to be disassembled and replace the bearings!

If you want to clean out the combustion chamber in it every month and that sucks you want to burn clean fuel and it used that dirty oil it's not going to be fun it'll burn but it'll burn nasty in there

i filled up an empty gallon of 15w40 diesel oil without cleaning container with some gas, diesel and 1oz stabil it burned fine.. Ive burned parrafin lamp oil with diesel and berryman chemtool B12 as well... air intake must be outside and i uaually burn at 50% to full bore..

Used oil will give you build up. Regardless of what you do.
