Those trams on the streets are one of the main sources of traffic jam. The traffic in Amsterdam is quite horrible if you drive through the city by car. It's not a very motorist friendly city due to it's infrastructure. Last year I had to visit a building project near het frederiksplein. Parking places are scarce and expensive. It' get's even more fun if you have to park in a one way street with roads works and having to turn your car in a narrow street. I managed with little bit of "help" from my collegue as it was quite emberassing. I was quite impressed to see how a delivery fan managed to do it with ease where I kind of struggled.

What, you explored the roof space of that awesome building and didn't even go into the motor room for the lifts? EDIT: Oh wait, they are MRL so there is no motor room...
