Great video and tips. I have several of them in practice too. One thing I would recommend when using the roller brush to remove/weed the die cut pieces is to have a box or lid with piece packing foam or a towel. I place the die face down and run the roller brush as usual, but the foam (or towel) provides give and the box (lid) help keep those little pieces contained. It saves me time and frustration.

I don't have a spatula to separate my oops! mistakes with improper placement, so I use a piece of dental floss behind the cardstock and saw the floss down. FYI: I have cut cakes into slices with a piece of dental floss too. and sewn a coat button back on when it cuts the regular thread. Cheap and since I am a dental hygienist, it is readily available in my house! I also sometimes heat the back of my cardstock to make the glue soften a bit. LOVE the foil trick in the shoe box lid.

Mary Gunn taught me about what she uses: She made a cardboard “paddle” that is covered in aluminum foil. She clipped a clothespin to the side, that holds the project away from your fingers which are gripped on the paddle handle. I just love it! The other benefit - watch the foil for the reflection of the craft heater gun; a warmed up gun melts the embossing powder quicker, and reduces paper burn.

I like the rings for dies idea. I use rings for sentiment strips. I’m still working on it, but I stamp each sentiment on a piece of cardstock 4-1/4” wide and then label what stamp set they are part of on the back. I punch the strips and then put them on a ring by categories like birthday, hello, sympathy, etc. Then I hang them on a hook. Makes it much easier to find an appropriate sentiment especially when you don’t remember what set it’s from. Solves the “ but I KNOW I have a sentiment that says” whatever!
@ardyth3 жыл бұрын
Oh, that's really interesting! I have the Evernote App which I have been using for a long time, but your way certainly beats my old way of trying to catalogue sentiments. And I know what you mean about trying to find them! Some people store their stamps by theme rather than by manufacturer (I used to), so it might help to keep the sentiment sets all together? Anway, binder rings are very useful! Thanks so much for watching!
@kathrynskelton8323 жыл бұрын
@@ardyth, so far most of the sentiments I have on the rings are not from sentiment sets but from image sets. They often have a thank you and hello or something like that in addition to, say, the birthday theme of the whole set. So I use sentiments I wouldn’t otherwise think of because it wouldn’t occur to me to look at the birthday set for a sympathy sentiment.
@laprofessora643 жыл бұрын
I'm confused. Are you putting the sentiments in a baggie? Or are you punching them out of the piece of cardstock when you need them, but the whole piece of cardstock is on the ring? Sorry if it should be self-evident. TIA!
@kathrynskelton8323 жыл бұрын
@@laprofessora64, I’m stamping each sentiment on a strip 4-1/4” wide and as tall as necessary for the stamp from 3/4” on up. Then I put the name of the stamp set on the back. I punch one end and put it on a ring of the appropriate category, e.g. birthday, sympathy, Christmas. Then I hang the rings on hooks on an upright surface near my work space. The strips are only for me to look through when looking for a sentiment. When I pick one out, I get that stamp set out and stamp on my card. Hope that’s clearer.
@laprofessora643 жыл бұрын
@@kathrynskelton832 Oh, so it's just a reference! I wondered why you had the stamp set on there. Makes sense why Ardyth mentioned Evernote. I thought you were stamping and punching them for use (sort of creating a collection to use later.) I could see stamping a bunch of the sentiments on a card sheet (A2) and then punching out as needed, too. Thanks for the explanation. Sometimes it's hard for me to visualize what people are talking about. lol

Things like good knives needs to be stored in a block or shield to keep their edge. I wonder if the cutting edges of the dies are dulled when they bang into each other on the ring, then additionally stored in a drawer. Otherwise these are great ideas!! I’ve been using a foil covered piece of cardboard in a box lid for many years - don’t even remember if I saw the idea somewhere or if I thought of it myself.
@ardyth3 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting thought. Dies are not terribly sharp and it's the pressure from the machine that makes them cut, so I'm not sure I have the same concern about those edges but I will definitely keep an eye on them. I am more concerned about them getting bent and damaged as they move around in the drawer. I am hoping that hanging them up will help with that. As for your foil lined lid, well, you know already that I think that's a genius idea! lol! Thanks so much for watching!

@@ardyth I already did a little photo booth! Took a piece of 3 foot long, 18 inch wide white cardboard I have had forever, scored it into 3rds to fold it and voila! Then I just fold it flat and hold it that way with a binder clip and slide it away😁. Now my pics won't have those weird shadows

Ardyth.. new subscriber here, I LOVE your videos. A breath of fresh air. Do you own any of the newer cricuts, I ask as I bought the explore air 2 and I am buying a grand calibur (cheap, off facebook marketplace) for scraps and dies I really like. TO be honest the cricut is intimidating. Thanks, Jessica.

I do not own a cricut anymore, but I understand how you feel. I think there are probably lots of good channels here on KZbin that could help you with this. Thanks so much for watching!
