More good steps forward. Nice to see you get the cfm's and gpm / gph rates more in tune. Look forward to your next one. Love shit like this. Keep it up ! .

I’ve got questions about what your plan is for when the pile cools down. Are you going to turn it and add new material?
@Earthdwellershomestead22 күн бұрын
if it cools we will slurry chicken poo and water to reinoculate the pile with additional water if the temps allow, I've put snow on the pile as it melted it, it soaked in for moisture. thanks for checking this out

Have a supply tank that is elevated in the green house as a reservoir, use it to feed into the supply line, using gravity flow and minimize the regulation needed of the supply line. Right now the pump is running against all that back pressure and that generally will draw more power to keep the supply at a higher pressure for no reason, just to be bled off later.

that's a great idea, although I would rather have the pile lower than the greenhouse for the natural thermophilic draw. the pump is working a bit and I'm going to fix that with a motor speed controller to wind in the power usage also. thanks for checking this out!

Great project. Subscribed. I have many questions: Could you tell me more about your compost pile? Is it mostly wood chips? How many greens? What kind of wood? If you had a smaller pile, but also a smaller greenhouse, do you think it would work? Why bother with the hot air, and simplify with a hot water radiator? Or was that just an experiment? Thanks!

Do you often water the compost pile? And what do you do when the compost pile starts going cold? Mine constantly would go cold last year. Trying to go bigger this year.
@Earthdwellershomestead22 күн бұрын
that's a big concern, I will water if its dry but I like to cover the pile to hold moisture. if the pile does go cold or start to there's a few things you can do. we like to water with a slurry of chicken poo and nitrogen rich materials infused or slurried together in buckets for good absorption and dispersing in the pile. insulating with leaves or yard waste, straw bales, anything to insulate inside from outside, tarps and poly offcuts work too. there's always carbon left in the Woodchips and having nitrogen added will reactivate it but getting moisture throughout is difficult. I have used snow before as water for the pile lol, where there's will there's a way!

Please tell me the water barrel was not completely sealed. or atleast the air inside was really minimized. 💣
@Earthdwellershomestead22 күн бұрын
it is sealed and it is 100% filled, and its so well insulated it won't freeze. thanks for watching this one!
