OMG I live by the Victoria drive area and these are absolutely great spots for food! I also recommend Mui Garden if your into Hong Kong style curry with beef brisket or Hainanese chicken!

Favourite episode so far. Great neighbourhood!

Good episode! You missed three important mom and pop spots in the neighbourhood, though--El Caracol Cafe (best papusas in town and amazing seafood soup), Amay's House (excellent laksa and tea leaf salad), and last but not least Northern Cafe all the way down Victoria on Kent Avenue. It's the oldest diner in Vancouver on the second floor of a lumber yard. It's top 3 best-rated restaurant on Yelp in Canada. Super outgoing and friendly owner, great vibe, and get this--the whole building is crooked. Nothing is level in that tiny restaurant but the burger is the best in town!

El caracol is one of my favs!! Included them in my Mexican video 😊 and yes, Amay's tea leaf salad is great! As for Northern Cafe, I've tried going a couple times but the wait times were 1 hour +... will keep on trying 😭

@@stephaneats3944 I didn't realise Northern Cafe has become so busy! We've been going there for years. Maybe it's a good thing that you aren't able to visit during the pandemic. If you go after it's all over you'll be able to fully experience the hospitality and the atmosphere. I can't imagine the owner Jim or his son comes out to chit chat with every customer right now.

Go to Jin Sui Xiang Bakery for cheap rice rolls behind the cash register. They also have pastries and congee.

Welcome to what some to consider "Little Chinatown" of Vancouver. not as big as the original but still has the vibes and experience the orignal Chinatown had in the 80s and 90s. Kokoro is definitely a gem in East Van as one can get real Japanese Ramen without having to go to Downtown. I was going to try the spicy ramen but I chickened out.
