Cheap Ebay Android Stereo Install in 2000 Ford Excursion

Install/Mini Review of the $55 Cheap Android Radio from Ebay. Being installed in a 2000 Ford Excursion.

I just changed my radio and realized that extra plug is for the radio controls in the back seat. My steering wheel doesn’t have radio controls but the back seat has a spot in the middle.

The other connector is for your steering wheel controls - that connector will be there regardless if you have the controls or not. There may be a smaller third connector if you have the factory amp/subwoofer. I recently installed an identical stereo in my 2008 Ford with the metra kit... I had to cut the faceplate to fit... I hit a similar issue with another Chinese stereo install in a Silverado, again requiring trimming of the metra faceplate. And see those two little wires that were on the one connector? Trim those back for better WiFi... back to about a half inch (though I am considering mounting a proper WiFi antenna to those connectors to see if I get even better range). If you have issues getting your OBDII connector to work, there is an app you can download that will enable you to connect. You can even install a second front facing camera and use it as a dash cam. These are awesome-for-the-price stereos for sure!

The unit fits behind the Metra kit. I had to drill out the holes in the plastic, it didnt come with the metal bracket, but it was tight and worked great as it should. It allowed it to self align the unit before installing the dash back

Good tutorial. Hope to see an update with a custom interface walk-through, and how it sounds. Are you adding an amp/sub?

Thank you! As soon as it warms up, I'll do a walk through along with the apps and launcher I use. I will not be adding an amp or sub, at least in the foreseeable future. My rule for my trucks is that my mods/upgrades cannot negatively affect functionality of the trucks primary purpose. Adding a sub box would limit my cargo carrying ability so I'm pretty resistive until I can find a clever place to put it lol.

@@oztihcs not if you do what I did. I restore old Porsche's and I'm known for installing my electronics either hidden like my 914's, or with clean OEM looking installs like the 7 inch touch screen in the center console of my 928's.... You have a couple good options and I am using both together in my 2000 diesel Excursion. First is a small 8 inch down facing subwoofer in the center console. Semi Pro tip: go to your local pick a part and buy a center console to modify. I paid 40 bucks for mine 15 years ago. You can actually upgrade to the newer style like I did which I really like. The second 8 in sub can be mounted in the spare tire. I HAD a set up that I really liked before I decided to swap out my rear doors. DON'T DO THIS, it has never closed right. My buddy said it would work, but it didn't. BEFORE I did the rear door nightmare swap, I had the lift gate with the two half doors. Those doors are HOLLOW. And they are PERFECT for building into. They need to be reinforced and save yourself the hate and SOUND PROOF the outside shell from the inside. It will sound better in the vehicle and if done right not at all from outside the vehicle. If you do go this route by better 8 inch woofers rather than getting cheaper 10 or 12's. Yes you can fit 20's, but DON'T. If you want the whole thing to sound amazing, just don't. And as far as it JUST being a truck..... I have kids. Jurrasic Park was so cool in my truck they didn't mind going 600 miles to grandma's house and we even forgot they were in there one time... In the scene where the lawyer gets eaten off the toilet. ..... you can here his bones crunching in the background....

Nice video. Did your Excursion have a 2nd row DVD player and screen? If yes, did you do anything special to get the audio from the DVD player to go through the stereo system?

I cant figure out how to get screen mirroring to work through usb, It only works with a wifi hotspot. Zero directions so it's tough to figure it out

How did you end up with a double din sized stereo hole in your dash.... I might have the only remaining single owner 2000 diesel Excursion.... I bought it brand new in 1999 and it was supposedly the first diesel in the pacific nw. I had to fight a huge Burger King franchisee owner for it who tried to swipe it from me.....
