One thing about Southern vehicles is the lack of salt rot. The paint UV-peeling and baked dash/headliners, is the downside. The Carolina's, and Tennessee are prime old iron haunts, but since the regime that came in 2020, prices have tripled for used trucks. In Ohio, finding a truck with a chassis and body that are still intact would mean it hasn't been on the road in 20 years or more, with a price near the $10K range, depending on mileage.

You can tighten that shifter easily - there are a couple star bits under the dash. Put a little lock tite on them and tighten them up and you'll be good to go. My dad's did the same thing. It's a 5-10 minute fix at most.

Hay, Josh! A hammer can fix many a problem! And, YES $1,000 was a great deal. I bought a car at a yard sale for $1,200. A good fine cut rubbing compound and buff with some wax and it will bring that paint back to life, except where the paint is gone. It will sell alot easier as well. Had an 89 F250 with a plow for snow with 160k miles until I sold it. Was one of the best trucks I ever had, and one of the best plow trucks I ever drove. It was a stick 4x4 on the floor so never had any of these problems. Wish I had it back for as cheap as I sold it 12 years ago. Guy I sold it to is still plowing his driveway with it.

I bought a 1962 ford 2000 tractor. The previous owners tried to do a 12v conversion. They did a hack job. Used a mix of automotive and house wiring. It's still a work in progress but it's coming along as i get enough time/money.

I had a 92 ford ranger back in the 90's and yes I had to do repairs to it and it was a lot of repairs from having 2 transmissions replaced not due to my fault but the previous owner and the second time was due to it not put together right. Also back then I delivered pizzas so I was putting close to 3,000 miles in about a month and a half and once I got it dialed in with all the repairs over the years I had it it was a solid truck and yeah it was tricky driving it in the winter here in Minnesota but that truck has taken me across the country and i mean about 9 months after I bought it I drove it from Minnesota to Florida and back without issue.

A guy brought an almost brand new GMC 3500 Denali Dually into a shop I worked at years ago because the train horn he installed wasn't working. He had used phone wire. The line was melted from the switch to the horn. When I told him, he said that phone line was plenty and it was the horn we sold him that was the problem.

To bad it's a nice truck destroyed by farmer butchery I wouldn't touch that truck for anything more than 1k when you cut into factory wiring you just introduced a plethora of problems it needs a harness replacement. That's my professional experience and knowledge speaking. At the end of the day a vehicle is worth what someone would pay for it I would have bought it for a grand but that's definitely all I would pay because I would have to replace the harness to be feel confident it was good also it needs several other things and possibly a trans that down shifting issue is a result of blocked line pressure in the aod trans common issue before they puke their guts out.

To adjust the PRNDL pointer reposition the string on the column sleeve, loose steering wheel, tighten the screws under the signal switch that attach the assembly to the column. Just a quick pro tip. Be careful not to damage the crush sleeve.

It escapes me why any manufacturer would build a 4 wheel drive pickup with an open differential. I recently bought a ‘11 GMC Sierra. I have a gravel driveway with a fair amount of slope and it’s a crapshoot if I’ll go up without going 4 high on the prettiest day of summer. I tell people if it’s not in 4 wheel drive it’s a 1 wheel drive. Other than that, I like the truck and I got a great deal on it so I’ll be content with flipping the switch, if I have to, I guess. 🥸👍👀👋✅
