Cheap Lidl Airline Hose reel Review .. Any Good?

Lidl Parkside Hose reel unboxed, installed and Reviewed. I spent €20 on this cheap hose reel for my shed. It's quite small and has 10m of usable hose line in it. It has a further 3m of line feeding the reel from the compressor. The connectors are 1/4 quick coupling.
The line on this parkside hose reel is pvc pipe with no outer layer but at this price that's to be expected. It looks ok and holds air like it is supposed to. It also retracts but the mechanism could be a bit more reliable so as to retract fully in one motion. It has a hinge that tracks left and right following the hose which is very easy to mount on a wall or vertical surface as in my case.
Overall I have to give it a thumbs up but for heavy use spend some more money and get something more robust.

Hi IgotbricoTools I am still using this in my shed and it working fine. The hose is not as tough as a braided hose but I keep it wound up if I am welding or grinding. Thanks for commenting Cheers Gerry 👍

I have a similar unit, probably got from a similar shop! i use it for tyres inside the workshop or using with the air duster for cleaning out stuff. for anything more industrial i have a solid airline around the workshop which i plug in to close to my work area. i have mine up a fair bit higher than yours - i can just about touch the bottom of it but can easily grab the hose - this helps it retract every time, and also uses up some of that 3M of hose to the compressor.

Hi Gary. I might run a fixed airline around the shed with a few take off points. I could do this in multilayer pex with crimped fittings and it would help with the tripping over hoses every time I go to do things. Thanks for commenting Gary, much appreciated Cheers Gerry

I got my reel from Aldi. It has been used on a moderately regular basis for about 7 years now. Used once every couple of weeks, mainly a tyre inflator, a simple blow of gun, and brad nailer. The spring isn't bringing it in, and I picked up a pin hole leak about a year ago. Time for a new one. If I get another seven years out of it, that will be fine.

Hi Paul. It will last a while only if I look after it but time will tell. The tyre inflater was another cheap tool from Lidl. It's parkside and pretty good. I have it a few years at this stage and needs a couple of triple A's to run but it has been reliable. Needs to not get wet though. Thanks for commenting Paul Cheers Gerry

Have a very similar product it failed where the hose is crimped onto the connector so I'd recommend adding some reinforcement around here like cable typing some rubber hose over it to avoid it pulling.

What’s it rated at? Aye the days of decent quality tools from Lidl & Aldi are long gone. Guaranteed to kink Gerry & like you I’d melt or crush it. :(. I tend to use pressure washer hose just because I got 50 metre for another project cheap when I only needed 10. Reinforced 250 bar with an outer weave. My view what you have there is junk :(

I see them didn't realise it was auto rewind , I decided not to get one because thin pipe reduces flow rates, I have an old aldi and Lidl compressor linked together , Still need more air to run half the air tools impulse bought from there.

Hi crazygeorgelincoln I'm not sure how long it will last but for light work it seems ok. I can see the hose kinking or more likely me burning through it but it is tidier and more convenient than my other setup ( long braided hose) Time will tell. I need to get a larger compressor too.
