Cheap Outriggers for Pelican Castaway 100 Kayak

This is the build of my kayak outriggers for Pelican Castaway 100 Kayak
The total cost of this project - $25.00
I bought all of these materials from Lowes and Walmart.
What I did not show on this video is how to connect the joint of pvc pipe together. You will need either PVC pipe glue or 1-inch screw to secure them. (or both)

Again thanks ! Mine works super ! Just a tip , I filled the pvc with spray foam insulation ! Makes the pipe alot stiffer !

Fantastic! Thanks for the tips on using spray foam insulation, how much is a can of foam insulation? Maybe I can use some of those inside the kayak as well to increase the buoyancy.

Put caps on end do away with bungy cord. Great idea I'll have to try that on mine

For stability... you can make the pipe and foam floaty as long as you need it to be. The only thing I would add is end caps and shave the front edge of the foam to be slightly cone shape to cut through the water.

Would this allow one to stand and cast on choppy flat water ?

I think that depends on two factors. Your weight and the buoyancy of your kayak. In theory you should not flip your kayak with this outriggers.

Howlong are those noodles ! And how did ya cut them so clean lookin?

I don't remember how long are those noodle. As for the clean cut, I just use regular box cutter that you can get from walmart. A big noodle like this is easier to cut, I think they are build with tougher material.

It is pretty stable. I should post a video of this outrigger in action next time. The only complain that I have on this outrigger is it is bigger than I thought hanging behind me, and occasionally my fishing line will get tangled up on that damn thing, and it's pain in the ass to reach to the back to untangle it lol

If you ever have a blind hole you have to mount a bolt to in your kayak, use what they call (Well Nuts). You do not have to put a nut and washer on them and all bolts will be water tight 100% of the time. You just drill the right size hole, and put the well nut in.
