Good job Rich.Very wise to rust treat underneath.Will save you a whole pile of money in the future at MOT time where it fails beceause of corrosion.I had my car done recently. I cheated though and paid someone to do it lol

Interesting to see how you get on with the product over time, I’ve not used either but remember my father having in the past (1971), a mini 1275 GT treated by Zeibart. Seemed to ‘add’ some soundproofing to panels and did appear to work at least compared to a friend’s untreated mini which seemed to do its best to rust over the 4 1/2 years they both owned them from new. 👍

Ah good stuff in its day. Apparently BMC used to store bare shells in lanolin before being dipped and painted. Rover just used to leave them Out in the rain 😆.

Thanks Ian. Yeah it’ll be interesting to see what the arches are like in particular. Will be keeping an eye for sure on the three we’ve actually worked on.

😂 Can clean the dirtiest politition 😂 you win the Internet this week Rich. Another similar product to look at that claims to last upto 5 years is Corrolan from rust buster. I've used it and so far prefer it to lanoguard

Any update as to how it has faired after 8 months?😀

Was under there on the weekend fitting some new gizmos and it looks to have stayed in place pretty well. I will likely do a bit of an update as part of another video, but impressed with how it has held up on the front chassis and arches.

Seen a lot of videos about lanolin lately. Too bad it seems that there isn't anyone selling it in Finland. I've only found some cosmetic, health and clothing products. The closest thing to "bulk" lanolin I've found has been a 200 gram glass jar with 100% lanolin. The market is saturated with all kinds of petroleum products and other wax stuff, but lanolin? No go.
@WanderbusAdventures3 ай бұрын
Oh really! Gap in the market perhaps for one of these companies. Buzzweld are a local company to us, so we often try their stuff if we can. Not that they thank us 😆. I’m sat next to the van now and in the front wheel arch it looks good still. Will give it a good wash end of summer and see how it’s faired.

@@WanderbusAdventures Woolwax, Corrolan and now the Buzzweld are brands that I've seen in KZbin (in maybe a few months time in total). Originally stumbled upon Corrolan. Some UK based dude made a "DIY" version with the two Corrolan products, Pure and Turbo thinner. Seen a few very informative rust proofing videos since. And as I bought a cheap ass Mazda and brought it back to life with pretty idiotic amount of money ("new" engine, new clutch, dmf + other bits), I thought I have to try my best to keep it in some kind of shape because the body is still pretty OK looking. Already has 391 000 km... One older guy I talked with years ago swore by rapeseed oil. He talked about some company that did sandblasting in a hall, constructed from steel and always had problems with the beams rusting. As I understood, the older guy tipped someone in the company that they should treat the beams with rapeseed oil. He told me that afterwards the problems were gone. He told me that rapeseed oil hardens a bit with age and becomes very hard to remove. He also told me that the ultimate cocktail is supposedly pine tar mixed with rapeseed oil, but mixing the two together calls for high heat, lots of stirring and time.

I also have been searching in Finland, I found a company claiming to be an agent for Fluid Film, but they dont have an online shop karkitarvike and no other source for Lanolin. fluid film from a company in Germany is about 100 euro for 5 l..

Scrape flaking paint off with a chisel edge sharpened file (super hard steel). Don't wire brush. Sould desroying waste of time. Spray rust with FERTAN. Best rust killer ever!! Leave 24 hrs. NOW coat with lanolin or wax. (Wax is terrible to use unless you have a proper COMPRESSOR)
@offshoretomorrow33462 ай бұрын
'soul' not 'sould' 😞
@WanderbusAdventures2 ай бұрын
Great tips, since this video actually discovered Fertan from a friend who shot blasts cars and parts for a living. He describes it as chemical shot blasting and uses it himself for parts that are difficult to reach, would warp etc. Swears by it.
@supernova19763 ай бұрын
Very Detailed demo of the process 🦾. I was looking to get fluid film because it doesn't dry out at all, and it creeps everywhere. i wander how it compares to this type, my first guess, the polymerization helps to keep it from washing off . My guess this is a mixture of Lanolin, some sort of solvent and boiled linseed oil. the price seams much better than the other products in the market for sure.
@WanderbusAdventures3 ай бұрын
Thank you, I reckon you're right but have not used Fluid film. I have used other products like Bilt Hambers S50, which is ace but needs way more prep to ensure you don't make a mess. They must have mixed it with something as the reaction is exothermic, so possibly. I will give the van a good wash before autumn and see how it is holding up.
